Summary

Racist rants, expressions of hatred fueled by ignorance, are increasingly being captured on video, leading to public exposure and sometimes legal consequences, while disproportionately affecting minorities, particularly Black and Asian Americans.

Abstract

Racist rants are a common manifestation of the racism and hatred harbored by some individuals. These verbal assaults, often captured on video due to the prevalence of smartphones, can lead to the perpetrators becoming infamous or facing hate crime charges. Minorities, especially Black and Asian Americans, frequently bear the brunt of these tirades, which have been exacerbated by issues like the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the diversity of those who engage in racist behavior, the majority of society condemns such actions. Racist rants are quite prevalent as racism and hatred are being exhibited daily by ignorant people with hate in their hearts. Hatred is angrily expressed from the loud voices of intolerant people who think they are better than others. They are showing their ignorance and their true colors of racism and hate.

With cell phones having cameras which are easily able to take videos, racial rants are being captured on video with increasing frequency. Some are going viral, and they are making the racist people infamous. Sometimes people are identified and charged with hate crimes. People should have sense enough to know that they are probably going to be put on video with their racial rants. Maybe they don’t care who knows their true feelings. The internet is full of videos of racist people going off on their rants against innocent people who are usually minorities of some type.

Black people have suffered more than their share of racism, prejudice, discrimination, and hatred simply for the color of their skin. There are regularly racist taunts hurled at them for no logical reason. Other minorities endure racial rants as well.

Asian Americans have had an increase of racial slurs and racist rants against them seemingly due to the coronavirus. Ignorant people are blaming all Asians. People who were born in the United States and whose families have been here for generations are being told to go back to their own country. This is treatment that many Asian Americans have experienced for decades, but it has escalated in recent months.

A classic case is the woman at a park in California who was video taped having her profanity laced, racist rant against a young Asian American woman who was exercising. The same woman was caught on video having another racist rant against an Asian American man in front of his eleven year old son. This is unbelievable behavior by an ignorant and intolerant woman who apparently feels entitled.

Another Asian American man had a racist rant against him at a store in New York. The white man was calling him racial slurs and shouting profanities. He was blaming the other man for the coronavirus pandemic. His encounter even became violent so the man started to video tape the racist rant.

Recently a young Black woman who is a graduate student in New York City was confronted by a White woman on a sidewalk. The woman called her names and racial slurs. She had no reason to suddenly attack the woman with a racist rant. The understanding Black woman said that she realizes that the woman may be mentally ill or homeless. She may be taking out her frustrations with her own life on an innocent bystander.

Most people who use racial slurs and go off on racist rants against people of minority races do not seem to be mentally ill or homeless. They simply act like ignorant, racist people who are intolerant and unaccepting of people who are different than they are. They are trying to hurt others with angry, hateful words. Maybe it makes them feel superior.

Although there are some in society who are blatantly racist, most people will profess that they are not racists. The people who are racists and bullies can come from every walk of life. They may be male or female, rich or poor, well educated or uneducated, young or old.

Some people who have been peacefully protesting against police brutality toward Black men after the killing of George Floyd have had racist rants against them. These protesters are bringing attention to a big problem in society. They are trying to make racism an important issue with people in power to make changes. They are attempting to promote diversity and inclusion.

The people who are making the racist rants against innocent bystanders are showing their ignorance and hatred. Racist rants against people who may look different than the usually White perpetrator are shown in hundreds of videos. The racist rants are hurting innocent people.

Racism is alive in the United States, but hopefully it will not be allowed to thrive. It will be difficult to eradicate racism. Effort must be taken to try to make this a more equitable and just nation. Too many people have been suffering for far too long. More attention is being placed on racism at the current time. The necessary changes to make this a better world by being more fair and inclusive are long overdue.
