Race Away From A Race War
Naah, no way there’ll be one.
Money is so yummy, we never want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs even if it isn’t the same color as we are.
In Chris Rosenthall‘s ranking of people he hopes aren’t racist, he talks about a skateboarder called Tony Hawk.
Here’s what Chris had to say when I thanked him for telling me about the skateboarder with a heart of gold.
I’m so happy that I got to tell you about Tony Hawk. I actually saw a video yesterday where he was driving around town, and when he passed a kid on a skateboard, he’d ask them to do a trick. If they could do it, he gave them a free prize. He really seems delightful.
Tony Hawk is so nice that every morning, around 50 black people pledge not to kill him if there is a race war.
Are people in America are planning to have a race war? Is that why they’re planning to not kill some white people while a race war’s raging? This one I don’t buy, I think America is just fine, and the pledgers have the leisure to make the pledge precisely because America’s a nice place to live.
Also, there are more races than just two, and nobody would want to kill their own customers or employers, or tenants who pay them – that kind of thing. How about your kids’ pediatrician? In a race war, would you kill him, or would he kill your kids(and you)?

Also, isn’t it easier to charge a chap who you don’t like? You like him, he’s your own color, you’d like to work on him gratis, and how’s that gonna pay the bills?
How would my clinic run if I worked only on people “just like me”, for free or even at a discount I can’t afford? How would I pay for stuff that comes from Germany, Austria, and Sweden?
That said – imagine, a skateboarder who makes money! In India, his mother would have twisted his ear and forced him to study Science, or if he were allowed to play, he’d be made to play cricket, the only game here that makes money.
A skateboard? That’s not even a bicycle, and yet he makes money. America is truly the land of dreams and opportunity.
