Quotes For Living
Quotes By Me

I love quotes. They are short powerful bursts of wisdom interspersed with life. Whenever I read and find something that resonates with me or provides an object lesson or strategic learning point, I grab my jotter and pen (or phone notes). I have jotters filled with quotes I have penned over the years and I still go back and read them. It’s the same with movies, seminars, and webinars, presentations, awards ceremonies, music, interviews, sermons — anything basically; I see life as my muse or my canvas. I write down anything that resonates with me, teaches or educates, inspires me, or makes me think.
One of my favorite quotes is this one by Maya Angelou:
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style — Maya Angelou
I love this quote. I have always regarded it as a mission statement for my life because it encapsulates my beliefs about life. I don’t believe we are here to join a rat race but rather to thrive and to do it with some pizzazz. We are here to give joy, live, thrive, and make an impact. I could write tons with this one quote as it is so beautifully scripted
I wouldn’t love quotes so much and not have a few of my own, right? I have several written down in my jotters and typed into my phone notes when I am on the move. Quotes and poems are my way of verbalizing thoughts and feelings and also provide a means to paint word pictures of what life, nature, circumstances, adversity, relationships, pain, tragedy, love, and the world have taught me. I would like to share a few with you and hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them
I did not come to the world to mark a register, to tick some boxes, or simply to exist. I came to live a rich, full superabundant life and so shall it so help me God © Imabong Faminu
This quote is a pledge of sorts. Sometimes, life comes at you like a raging bully and you rise up, stand tall, speak up and defend yourself. I imagine this is what I’d shout back

Life is not lived on the bleachers, on the sidelines, on the benches or off-court. Life is lived on the field of play where you throw, duck, tackle, are fouled, kick, bat, swing, jump, run, miss, fall and get back up again. You cannot be a spectator in the game called Life. You enter the field and you play HARD © Imabong Faminu
This quote is my take on the ‘Life is a game’ belief. Life is not a game but the business of living can be likened to competing in one. Your being in the game means you partake in all its experiences — wins, losses, fouls, unfair rules, injury, falls, misses, and so on. Life is not all wins or all sunshine. Life brings it all and you have to roll with it, learn from it, pick yourself up and move on
I want to be useful. I want to be productive. I want to be profitable to God and myself © Imabong Faminu
This quote is what I call my mantra. It keeps me grounded and gives me my ‘Why’
Sometimes, the reward comes long after the work, the stress, the blood and the sweat. Don’t give up. One day you will cry happy tears © Imabong Faminu
This quote goes out to encourage anyone (including myself) working towards a goal. Keep on, keep working, rest when tired but don’t give up. Celebrate small wins, learn from failures and keep going

Adverse circumstances are like harsh bright lights. They bring a lot of things into sharp perspective © Imabong Faminu
This quote reminds me that adversity is a teacher. It helps you see things clearly and make changes in your mindset and beliefs and take necessary actions. It also helps you re-appraise relationships, friendships, and connections because human beings tend to show their true side when you are in trouble or in need
Some journeys are meant to be taken alone not because no one cares, but rather because the lessons are for you, your life and your future alone ©Imabong Faminu
This quote reminds me that we are all on the journey of life. Some of us are connected and are co-travelers while others are strangers and run parallel experiences. All of us will go through experiences where we feel abandoned and alone. Those times are for learning, instruction, growth, and self-development. Those times provide opportunities for introspection and deep thought and harnessed properly, bring us out as fine gold

Beautiful endings are watered sometimes with tears ©Imabong Faminu
This quote is one I wrote after learning that after the long hard task of working towards something, you often expect to be elated, excited, and filled with joy. I find that instead, you experience a quiet joy, a calmness within and sometimes a few happy tears
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I loved writing them
