Quora is Launching A Program Like Medium Partner Program
Learn everything you need to know about writing and making money under the Quora+ revenue sharing model.
I have been writing and reading on Quora for the last five years, and in these five years, they have experimented a lot in different ways to make the platform a success.
Quora was always an underrated platform, and it seems like most of the writers missed it. The platform didn’t provide any incentive to write, but if you write for writing and building a portfolio, Quora was the №1 platform.
As introduced by Substack and empower by Medium, the subscription business model for writers is one of the lucrative ways to make money without worrying about CPM and annoy your users with ads.
The first thing they tried to monetize is running ads across their platform, and they are still doing it. Then, they launched Quora Partner Program for people to getting paid for just asking questions. Then, they introduced a new community feature called “Quora Spaces” They invested a lot of money into Quora Spaces, and for writers to monetize their Spaces they launched Quora Spaces earning program (I am part of this program)
Now, they want to compete with Medium.
Medium is indeed one of the best writing platforms available for anyone to write and make money. Medium is very clear about the business model, and the platform is just making money through its Medium members. Quora is still very confused and wanted to try a subscription-based model for writers.
What is Quora+?
Quora+ is a new program from Quora which is more similar to how Medium is working with writers and readers creating a win-win situation for all the parties. Quora+ membership is a monthly subscription to read behind the paywall answers while Quora+ earning program is for writers to make money writing answers on Quora and making money when a Quora+ member reads their story.
Quora+ is coming in two forms:
- Quora+ membership: In Quora+ membership, you can buy a subscription to Quora+ with a 30-days free trial, and you can read all the answers behind the paywall (much like Medium). Quora plus membership costs $5 a month or $50 a year.
- Quora+ earning program: You can join this program and enroll your answers for members only, and you will get paid for the Quora+ member reading time. You will also be eligible to make money if someone chooses to buy Quora+ membership through your answer. When you joined Quora+ earning program, you can also start an independent subscription-based Quora Space.
The Space subscription: If you want to support a Quora Space or read member-only answers, then you can subscribe to that Space. You can also start your Quora Space and make money getting paying subscribers.
How can you join Quora+ earning program?
The program is in beta and is currently only an invite base. The program will be rolled out in the coming few days, and very shortly, it will be available to the general public. No program can be successful unless it is available to a huge audience.
How are writers going to make money through Quora+ earning program? They will make money in the same way as writers make money on Medium. You will be compensated based on the member reading time of your answers. The portion of Quora+ member earning goes to writers and Quora.
For a very long time, Quora is struggling to be a platform where writers can make a living through their platform, but the Quora partner program and Quora Space earning program seem to be not working.
What is the eligibility requirement to Join this program?
Following are some of the requirements to join this program and publish content that follows the guidelines:
- You must be living in a country where Stripe is available.
- You can enroll an answer behind a paywall only if it has no adult content or content prohibited by Quora.
Launch your own Subscription through a Quora Space:
One of the coolest features of the Quora+ earning program is that it will allow you to start subscription-based content to your subscribers by charging a fixed monthly fee from your Quora space followers.
