Yes, I get it. There’s no planet B, and a bunch of plan Bs leaves much to be desired. Bamboo, hemp, and moringa trees are easy to plant and have short growing lifespans.
Why Plant a Tree
Yeah, that’s just me being snarky. I had never thought to plant a tree either until recently.
Approximately 27,000 trees are cut down every day just to make toilet paper. Over seven billion rolls of toilet paper are sold in America alone each year. This amounts to around 141 rolls per person, or 12.7 kilograms (28 lbs.) of paper. — Last Object.
Oh, don’t get all snarky; Europe, Germans use 134 rolls, and the Brits use 127 rolls per year. That’s why they’re cutting down the Amazon rainforest. We can’t keep going this way.

Plant a fucking tree or stop using toilet paper and paper towels because our lives depend on it.
Many people are using bidets. Here in the Philippines, they use a tabo or bowl to wash, where we’d typically use toilet paper.
Also, reduce, reuse and recycle to keep from cutting down trees:
- Recycle cardboard boxes and all paper waste.
- Buy reusable shopping bags (eco-bags, not plastic) and use them.
- Buy recycled paper products.
- Use two-sided printing when possible. Yeah, I know I have to relearn every time.
- For home use, reduce the font size if you can.
You can probably think of many additional ways to reduce paper use.
Renewable Energy Is Getting Cheaper to Produce
Even though we aren’t there yet, not even close, many are installing energy-efficient heat pumps to make air conditioning and heating their homes more eco-friendly.
Yeah, I know to power the electric cars we are going to need to save the planet will require small towns of recharging stations, and the batteries in these electric vehicles (EVs) won’t last that long either.

Wind power kills birds, but guess what? They’ll die anyway with us if we don’t do something. You can wait if you want to, or you could plant a fucking tree.

Actually, cats kill 2.4 billion birds annually compared to the approximately 800 million killed by windmills. Should we do away with cats? Nah, plant a tree.

Imagine caring enough about the planet to go to the expense and inconvenience of “staging” your arrest. What did you do today to save the planet? Plant a tree.
At least she didn’t stage a video to promote self-driving cars that got people killed.
Eight Billion & Growing
If we all plant one tree tomorrow, that’s more than 8 billion trees! Yeah, the 8 billionth world citizen was born right here in the Philippines. On 15 November 2022, Vinice Mabansag was born in Manila.
And guess what, smart farming will save millions of lives, and hopefully, feed billions more. Yeah, I know, we’re all going to die. But what about quality of life?
Example technologies used in smart agriculture are: Precision irrigation and precise plant nutrition. Climate management and control in greenhouses. Sensors — for the soil, water, light, moisture, for temperature management. — Ondo.io.

Use Hemp Products to Reduce the Number of Trees Destroyed
Use hemp products, their more eco-friendly. Hemp is “the sustainable and environment-friendly super crop,” but it doesn’t have to be a product or a homegrown treat. You could just plant some in the backyard to produce oxygen.
I wouldn’t suggest it as a houseplant, though. It smells like a skunk. However, this article points out nearly 25,000 useful products are now manufactured from hemp.

BTW, if you live where marijuana or hemp growth is legal, whether you use it or not, plant a few plants. I’m sure you can find some volunteers to help you harvest them. Plus, there are always the healthful benefits of CBD oils to consider.

I don’t know about you, but I could use some of those benefits for inflammation, migraines, and anxiety daily.
We just planted six trees this past weekend on our still undeveloped lot outside Manila. They’re mango, lemon, coconut, banana, and malunggay (Moringa Tree in the USA), which will eventually provide more benefits than just oxygen.
