Bronze statues at the Dallas Arboretum — Photo L Burton

Quiet Reflection

February Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Statues”

No bites today, but that’s okay.

The man and boy fishing are two of several bronze statues at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden sculpted by artist Gary Lee Price. According to People Newspapers, the sculptures are part of a “traveling exhibit titled ‘Celebrate the Children.’”

I love how peaceful they look by the koi pond. It also reminds me of the first time I went fishing, except I was in a boat on a lake. But the peace and quiet is the same.

It’s also fitting since the artist says, of his career, that he has “tried to lift the human spirit through sculpture.” These statues definitely do that.

I can’t wait to visit the garden again and see all of the new statues on display.

Thank you to the SWPSC team for the inspiration every month. Check out the main page for some great six word storytellers.
