Quarantine Truth

An Isolationist Poem

Covid quarantine, as bitter as sweet. Forced isolation, virus to defeat.

And though it’s been hard, patience running low, family connections are starting to grow.

The sweet sound of siblings at play in their room. The chaos of meeting loved ones on Zoom.

The nights with Netflix, clichéd Tik Tok songs, same outfit for weeks, your dignity gone.

Awaiting vaccine, an arduous plight, the battle remains a long uphill fight.

Yet one thing I know, and this is the truth, time waits for no man, our history proof.

This virus will end, and life will move on, but here’s a small thought to ponder upon…

This time together, as precious as gold, a gift for the soul, that never grows old.

And this I promise, a most certain fact… You’ll think on these days and wish for them back.

I realize this Pandemic affected everyone differently, and for many it’s been a horrific period of anxiety and loss. I in no way mean to detract from that. Rather, I wrote this at the height of my area’s lockdown as a way to recognize light in the midst of darkness, and to remind myself to embrace the moment.
