Quantum Kate the Qubit Chip
This is current computer chip Chris, and this is Quantum Kate, the Qubit chip. Chris is pretty good and very logical. Chris sees information in a straightforward way. Everything for Chris is a yes or a no, a stop or go, everything only has two positions. These positions Chris sees as ‘0’ or a ‘1’.
Inside Chris is a gate with a switch to make the gate work. In the world of Chris this switch is called a transistor. The information coming through this gate is in tiny little ‘bits’ and Chris can decide if these bits come through the gate or not, these bits are the ‘0’s and ‘1’s. Chris understands these bits one at a time and they line up behind one another so Chris is able to answer the questions that are given to him.
Quantum Kate the Qubit chip is different to Chris. Whilst Chris analyses his two positions in sequence as they line up to pass though his gate, Qubit Kate has a much wider view of the world.
Imagine this, if Chris flipped a coin the only thing Chris sees is a head or tails, the two possible end results. Now if Qubit Kate flips a coin she can hold the coin in super position, the coin holds no end result and is heads and tails at the same time. Chris has bits, on and off, and Kate has Qubits, they are on and off at the same time, or somewhere between the two.
As an example if Chris had to find the quickest route to the skate park he would have to go down each route one after another. After analysing thousands of routes Chris would have his answer and then he could set off to master his 360 Flips. Qubit Kate with her superposition can analyse millions of routes at the same time. She sets off light years ahead of Chris and she is nailing backside kick flips before Chris has even got out of bed. Qubit Kate is fast. Very fast.
