Quantum Computing and AI Are Making Sci-Fi Nerds’ Dreams Come True
Machine Learning Algorithms are on their way to make magic a reality of life.
We all know quantum computing, from our Sci-Fi days of obsessing over Marvel movies.
By 2027 life as we know will not be the same anymore. Predictions expect a significant integration of Quantum Computing into AI by 2027…
Taking this news lightly would be nothing short of a blunder. None of us know the effects this will have on our jobs, to start let's look at how this all began.
When it all started…
- The first breakthrough came in 2 when researchers at the University of Chicago successfully transmitted entangled qubit states across a specialized cable, connecting two quantum network points.
IBM, Google, Microsoft, are all a part of the huge tech revolution, absolutely swarming the market with investments in startups.
The two types of startups they seem to target the most are :
- Quantum Hardware
- Software Development
The US is not the only country dipping its toes in this endeavor, China has recently made headlines with a $15 billion investment into quantum computing.
The Financial Growth
The breakthrough I previously talked about doubled the financial influx into quantum computing in 2021. More than doubling the previous year’s figures, hitting a crazy $1.7 billion investment into the field.
Companies are preparing for the new rise by allocating specialized Quantum Research teams and facilities to uncover its untapped power.
Atom Computing recently unveiled a 1225 qubit quantum computer, which highlights the pace at which these companies are competing for top spot.
From what I can see, the industry is pivoting. It’s now shifting its focus from merely accumulating qubits to enhancing them, companies are now focusing on:
- Error correction
- Practical application development
Data Security
Possibly the greatest drawback I see for quantum computing is its ability to decrypt currently secure data. This poses a threat to all of us.
Post-quantum cryptography is currently blowing up the industry, and rightly so.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology are “trying its hardest” to secure the world against the threats Quantum Cryptography poses.
It’s a Lot Closer Than You Think…
The biggest misconception about quantum computing is viewing it as a distant future, trust me and don’t do this, you don’t want to be caught with your pants down.
Quantum Computing is showing promising results in :
- Finance
- Pharmaceuticals
- Environmental sustainability
- Advanced material development
Its integration into AI decision-making processes will hurt a lot of jobs, and you don’t want to be stuck there thinking its in the distant future, because it really is right now.
The technology is complex and faces hurdles, but the rate at which we’re overcoming these hurdles is honestly scary, I think we’re close to a revolution, which I find cool and scary..!
