Quality over Quantity
Which is the best way to earn money more efficiently.
Quality Over Quantity is the drive to pursue greater value over more volume.
The number one piece of advice I constantly see while reading about how to succeed on Medium is to publish as frequently as you can, ideally every day or even better, 2–3 pieces per day. Even though I have attempted to push myself to write more frequently (which I did when I started out, publishing 2 stories every day), I have never been able to sustain that in the long run, and now I only publish 3–4 entries a week. On a personal level, I have become an advocate of Quality over quantity, seeing how I have attempted both techniques, and I will further break down my experience.
‘Write Every Day’ and ‘Write for Your Reader.’
This is a trap that will drain the living soul out of you; you simply become a bot writing just to get the miles in, like a Nascar driver repeatedly going around in circles. Turns One and Three are exact duplicates, and Turns Two and Four are identical twins. And you pass them on Sunday afternoon five hundred times, and they never change. You won’t find your “voice” through everyday writing. You might improve your grammar and spelling, but you ought to be far past the point where you require that practice, in my opinion.
I’m not going to lie. I was once part of the rat race: wake up, write, write, publish, sleep, repeat. In fact, on my first month as a writer on Medium, I published 20 articles and poems, draining myself only to earn 4 dollars. The very next month, I only published 8 stories, earning triple the amount I earned in my first month. I am not saying I have earned much more money; the point is to write the best tale you can. Don’t waste your imagination by wandering in circles just to assert that your daily writing habit qualifies you as a writer; instead, plan it out until the voices in your head have names.
The importance of quality over quantity
Quality is better for your health. Believe it or not, this mantra has a huge impact on your life. The first benefit of favoring quality over quantity is improved health. You are providing your body with the right mindset, positivity, and healthy thoughts, not burning out your brain, just like a computer should be used with limitations.
Conversely, overwhelming your brain with ideas rushing through your mind and hurriedly writing story after story will make you less of a writer and simply blow your brains out.
Quality will help you save time. Time is valuable. Additionally, you waste time that could be spent doing the things you love when you’re continually attempting to follow the newest trends and writing whatever comes to mind.
However, you may use your time more effectively if you prioritize quality over quantity. You don’t need to continually write stories you do not connect with.
Quality saves you energy: Instead of focusing on all the wrong goals and accomplishments, you will save so much energy by focusing on quality over quantity. You do not need to please others and accomplish several other things all at once. Quality over quantity means you conserve your energy and use it to write about what you love and things that are significant to you.
Quality work tends to trend more. When you are promoting your work, quality work has the upper hand to go viral as it is written with thought and given the right amount of time. If one wants to promote his work and publishes two or more stories a day, it is unlikely all his stories will get the right amount of interaction.
Writing quality content and fully focusing on its growth for two or more days will get you the right interactions, and you will surely reap the rewards.
Final thoughts
We will ultimately reach a point where our heads are stuffed to the brim with ideas we don’t cherish and our lives are overflowing with things that don’t make us happy if we continue to accumulate things with quantity in mind.
But if we start making choices with quality in mind, we can simplify our lives, live in harmony, and pay attention to the things that are really important. The things that last genuinely are where we can discover contentment.
What do you think is the best way to improve QUALITY or QUANTITY? Do you have any tips to add?
