Q&A: Making Sense of Lockdown
My Self Discovery During Spring of 2020
This article is in response to a challenge by Aurora Eliam, CMP that she included me in on. She was responding to the prompt: Answering Questions About A Lockdown from Keno Ogbo. I so love the interaction in our community and am always honored to be included as we continue to connect!
Here goes:
- What have you missed the most during this lockdown? I have missed the physical connection with people, whether it was at work, in my networking communities or even in public places. Being able to see faces and expressions, look into another’s eyes, touch people and items and give/receive hugs…
- What is the best thing about being in a lockdown? Having some time away from my job. I love what I do, but I’m not doing what I love. And I was really feeling burnt out as I work a 40 hour week and spend down time working on my business. I’ve have had time now to focus on my business — and on me.
- What has been the worst thing about being in lockdown? The uncertainty that we are in. When will lockdown lift? What will life it be like? How long will we be required to wear masks? When will I see a person’s full face — and their smile?! When will public gatherings be back? What does the future hold? First questions that come to mind, I can think of a lot more…All the questions none of us have answers for…
- Who would you have liked to host in your home during the lockdown and why? My mother…she’s had trouble walking for years and has not able to leave her house in a long time. I go over there, but I would love to have her drive over, walk through the door and visit here with me and my cats.
- What have you discovered about yourself in the lockdown? That away from the busyness of my life, I am connecting more with the Universe. My intuition is stronger, I’m experiencing more synchronicities and signs. As I spend time in here alone — I see that I’m really not! It kind of sounds crazy, right?! But I’ve never been clearer and more connected. I’m also tapping more into my creative side and really enjoying it.
- What did you eat (or drink) the most during the lockdown? I’ve been consistent in eating now like I was before. I start my day with a green smoothie, have veggies over rice for lunch and a protein and more veggies for dinner. All organic. As a health and wellness coach, I eat to live and know the importance of using food as fuel. That being said, I will have the occasional pizza, burger and wine. To drink, black coffee and filtered water with organic lemons. I know…may sound boring…but I have my fun in other ways. Food used to be fun — I used to live to eat. And I used to feel lousy. I used to be 40 lbs heavier (18 years ago) and I used to gain weight easily.
- Apart from sleeping and working, what activities did you undertake the most during the lockdown? Lots of walking in the sunshine. I love the fact that I can get outside whenever I feel like it! I’ve enjoyed reading — something that I wasn’t giving myself much time to do before. Writing is something else that I’ve had much more time with, along with connecting on Illumination.
- Will you come out of lockdown heavier or lighter? I will come out the same. I’m pretty consistent with my weight.
- What resource has helped you the most during the lockdown? There have been many webinars that I have turned to that have given me hope during this time. The one resource that has given me much joy is Illumination! Being able to share this time with so many fabulous people has been extremely helpful. I can’t imagine how lockdown would have been if I was only on Medium. I am so grateful for the love I feel in here…
- What is your top tip for other people in lockdown right now? To take time to go within. I’ve written in other articles on how this is a time for us to connect with ourselves. Many of us have been slowed down from the busyness of life. To ask yourself questions — and listen for the answers. To think about what you would want your life to be like moving forward. What changes are you excited to make? Which are you afraid to make? To find the courage to live the life you desire.
- How has lockdown changed you? It’s helped me (in a way) find my voice. It’s given me the opportunity to express myself. I’ve had time to think and time to share my thoughts through my writings. I’ve always been pretty private and am feeling more comfortable opening up.
- If you were to leave a ‘message in a bottle’ for the future, what would you say? To not take things for granted, especially the little things. To slow down and enjoy life more. To play — it’s so important. Make time to be outside and connect with nature. To have the courage to step outside of your comfort zone and do what’s in your heart…
