Pyrotechnics See In The New Year
January Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Fun”
The quiet firework is a thing.
After last time, I was sceptical about attending a quiet firework event, but the 6-year-old insisted, and dragged us both out to greet the new year. A benefit was that it all had to be done and dusted before the 6-year-old’s bedtime, so I wasn’t going to be coerced into staying up beyond mine. Anyway, it must have been midnight somewhere in the world.
“These are genuinely quiet,” I was assured.
Surprisingly, they were. Not that you could set them off in a library without being peremptorily shushed, but there were no loud bangs. They crackled rather than exploded, made pretty patterns, and — as shown in the photo — put all their suppressed BANG energy into smoke.
Happy New Year! 💖
