Puzzled But Encouraged By Two Medium Readers

An oddity about one of my articles has me scratching my head, but also feeling a little lifted

As the title and photo suggest, I’m trying to figure something out.

Just recently I published an article entitled I Say “The Yea” to Two Women, and The Kentucky Governor and Legislature. The first part of the article can be called an ode or anthem to two strong women who have made history in America; and appreciation of women in general. The other part was praise for an act of bipartisanship in Kentucky, that resulted in a bill designed to increase voting access; while most of the country is going the other way.

I liked the article, and enjoyed writing it, under the influence of two examples of shiny and bright hopeful events.

So far, it has 8 views and 2 reads. But that’s not what puzzles me. After all, people may think the article sucks; they may be too busy to read it; the topics that meant much to me might not resonate with others. Right?

No, what puzzles me are the fans. There are 2 of them. If I can go by their names and photos, they are men.

I can think of no reason why 2 men should not clap for the article if they liked it (and thank you gentlemen). I was just pondering the apparent fact that 100% of the claps came from men. When the puzzlement initially hit me, my first question to myself was “why no women clapping like crazy? I should have thought women would like at least the first part of the article.”

I’m still wondering a little about that. But now I am proudly and happily simply accepting that there are two (presumably) males of the species, somewhere, who may be appreciative of strong women, as I am. Of course, I suppose they just might be applauding the Kentucky thing?

No, don’t tell me. I prefer to believe there are for sure two men out there who appreciated an ode and anthem to strong women.

I have solved the puzzle in my own mind, and I’m sticking with it. If millions of people in this country can believe the crap they believe, I insist on my harmless — and rather hopeful — belief.

Stay well and healthy, all of you.
