#UkraineRussiaWar — Is Putin A Psychopath?

5 traits of psychopathy that shows Vladimir Putin is a psychopath

Psychopathy is antisocial behavior and it is important for us to understand it because we are surrounded by psychopaths today. Not in numbers but by the amount of influence they have on our lives. A very recent example of psychopathy and its influence can be the Russian invasion in Ukraine by a psychopath president. Russia invaded Ukraine in broad daylight and it was done in a very strategic manner. Ukraine was attacked from all sides with a preplanned deployment of forces by Russia. What surprised the world was the constant white lies coming from the president of Russia.

We as humans believe in words and we trust each other on that. That’s how the world is running. Unfortunately, it is infested by psychopaths who know nothing but to defend and boost their egos at any cost. One example is the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

There are a few traits of psychopathy that can be easily spotted in a psychopath. I will mention each trait with an example of how Putin displaced them during the invasion.

  1. Lie as if no one is watching

Lying is common in humans, but psychopaths can lie without flinching their eyes.

Putin lied several times on camera, not only to his citizens but to the whole world in broad daylight. He said that he is not planning an attack or invasion on Ukraine, but he did just that. He said that the troops are sent to maintain peace and called it “peacekeeping” but they used bombs and missiles to kill everyone on their way. He said that he has no intentions to take over Kyiv but soon after the invasion Russian tanks started patrolling the capital of Ukraine, targeting civilians.

All these lies, on the world’s platform, without any accountability or guilt. Will he feel guilty and ever apologize? Never. The very first sign of a psychopath.

2. Rules & Moralities are for the weak

Rules and moralities are the pillars on which the society is standing. For psychopaths, rules are meant to be broken and morality exists for everyone but them.

Putin went against all the rules and agreements that he previously agreed upon. He nullified the Minsk agreement that he signed in 2014 with Ukraine and separatist areas (Donetsk & Luhansk).

Morality says to stand with the weaker but here he attacked and invaded the weaker country knowing that they do not want war.

3. Cold-Heartedness & Zero Empathy

Psychopaths are coldhearted and lack empathy for others. This is the reason why some of the best surgeons in the world can be psychopaths. Unfortunately, the billionaires and world leaders (wannabe dictators) also come on the same list. They do what they have to do without thinking about the consequences and pain of others.

Putin ordered the attack without thinking about the casualties and the collateral damage that Ukrainians, as well as Russians, have to bear.

4. Superiority Complex

You can see by the above-mentioned traits, that psychopaths feel superior to others and do not care or consider others in front of their decisions. They lie because they feel they can, they break rules because they feel they are above them all. They enforce their beliefs and ideas on everyone because they feel that others should better follow or else they will have to face the consequences.

Putin came on television and announced that Russian troops are going to enter Ukraine and very casually threatened the whole world saying

“any attempt to interfere with this Russian action will lead to consequences they have never seen”

He felt superior to all the counties in the world and to establish his superiority he took such decisions and challenged the whole world.

5. Agenda driven

Psychopaths are agenda-driven and they can put anything and everything at stake to fulfill it. It does not matter to them what the consequences will be. Psychopaths can be absolutely unreasonable, cruel, and disheartening to follow what their agenda is.

Putin believes in getting all the Soviet countries back into its boundaries by hook or by crook. He believes that these countries belong to Russia and it does not matter to him what the citizen of those counties want.

They follow their idea, illusion, and belief to the extent that they won’t mind putting everything at stake without any fears.

What is happening in Ukraine at the moment is awful — families now homeless; sons, fathers, brothers, and husbands losing their lives defending their country, their homes. It is all happening because of one psychopath who decided to show how powerful he is.

It will not be surprising to see him shaking hands with world leaders soon, with a smile on his face, as if nothing happened. After all most leaders in the world are wannabe dictators who are just waiting for a chance to take full control. The only difference is that Putin did it before them.

Be it “manchild Billionaires” who are enjoying their space race, or a millionaire turned politician who dreams of building a wall, whether it’s a right-wing prime minister of India suggesting genocide or a wannabe Hitler invading another country they all want to have unified power and control. Unfortunately, they have the resources which they are enjoying to abuse. We cannot complain as now we know their core issue — psychopathy.

What can we do to make a better world?

  1. Stop idealizing psychopath billionaires. Money has become a synonym for success, and we all are some way or the other idealizing these hoarders. Stop looking at them as a figure of success, they are a bunch of shallow people who exploit others, bend all the rules made by their fellow psychopaths just to collect and hoard more money.
  2. Stop watching fake/propaganda news. These psychopaths know the power of media and they are using it very well. Hitler and Rwanda genocide are examples of using media (radio & newspaper back then) to implant the idea of hate. Now, these psychopaths are using it too. Be aware of what you consume.
  3. Stand for the truth. Never be afraid of speaking the truth. Whether it’s in your personal life or about a political situation. Standing with what is right is important. Stand for what is right and the lie will kneel someday.
  4. Spread love. Spread the love around you. Love conquers everything and in the end, it is love that we all need.
