ARC OF THE IMMORTALS/ Book 1 — Part 2

Pursuit: 46/ Bi-Location

Recap: Bendel opens the hatch to the crawl space in the engine core of the Needlecraft. A lightning bolt cracks his helmet visor. He runs away…

Bendel boards the Fish. Harry is zapping Jac with electrical charges. Bendel and Harry use the Fish to send the Needlecraft toward the Paradox Rings. Touzdae contacts the AI whose name is Maja. She (AI-Maja) slows the rate of motion to the rings.

Jac by accident — bi-locates to Von Deign’s ship, unexpectedly in the distant past. Touzdae consciousness transfers and is drawn into young Touzdae’s body. Touzdae boards her Needlecraft to the Well of Souls not believing Jac is dead. Recap Completed. And Then…

[a scene of reported torture, 2 scenes of laz gun fire]

About to take off, Touzdae received a telepathic message from Nez. Please travel with me to the Well, Touzdae. Touzdae responds in kind,

Yes, but how? Observer Touzdae remained silent and neutral.

I’ve pulled into the slip next to you.

“Harry, we have to talk, come up to the bridge,” Bendel disconnected as Harry stared at the monitor. He was looking at Jac’s body floating, sleeping or unconscious. The scans were inconclusive. As Harry turned to leave, the floating Jac disappeared.

“What took you so long getting up here?” Bendel’s impatience rose to the surface.

“I was busy.”

“With what?”

“A genetic experiment of separating peace-Jac from warrior-Jac.”

“Ah — Progress?”

“Nothing conclusive yet.”

Guards and soldiers were descending on his position. Great Spirit, get me away from this laz fire, Jac thought.

He transferred to the cell on the Nez where his floating body crashed to the deck. He zapped out again. He consciousness transferred to a long corridor. Transparent half life chambers filled with humanoids covered in various colors of salt. He had heard of this kind of heinous torture.

Laz fire transected the corridor focused on two female figures at the center. Closer, he thought.

He hovered over them. As a forcefield blew out. He heard Hannah’s voice and he saw a younger Touzdae and felt elder Touzdae within.

“That’s it, we’re out of here,” Hannah said as she scooped up Touzdae and bilocated away.

So, that’s bilocation, Jac thought. He formulated a destination, Take me to the dual cockpit of our Needlecraft.

Touzdae (of the past) at the helm. Touzdae, the observer, inside her younger self and Nez arrived near to the Well of Souls. Three dozen of the Entu ships swirled above the mouth of the vortex like a swarm of frantic birds. A golden matrix had formed with the swarm of ships. Half-life sarcophagi jettisoned through the matrix into the depth of the Well.

Nez felt sad with the whole of her being. Sadness reigned throughout the bridge. Touzdae watched from the cockpit of the Fish and wept for the loss of Jac.

Present day Jac bilocated. He arrived in the cockpit of the Needlecraft, unconscious. It was Warrior-Jac. Peace-Jac remained in the cell aboard Nez Fish.

A green light permeated the grassy knoll and the copse of pleasure-sighing trees. Bhantu appeared between two Entu Monks. The open sarcophagus, Jac Kristos’ body remained in repose. He gazed down at Jac who opened his eyes.

The two Monks moved backward. They whispered in hushed tones.

“Greetings Jac,” Bhantu said holding Jac’s eyes with his own.

“Bhantu…” he wondered where he had landed.

“This is The Meta Planet in orbit around the Well of Souls. It has been inaccessible for centillions of centuries or 10 to 303 power. Your core essence came here and pulled your companions here too. This is unheard of. It has not happened but once before with Tu Mai. It was duo-centillions of centuries past.” Bhantu waited for Jac to digest the information.

“That is too much to fathom. All that time. I feel crazy. I — I don’t believe you but I know this to be true — what you say. Is this -” he brushed his right arm along his torso “- my physical body?”

“Yes and no…”

“I remember my body — crushed in the Levelz. This body feels new.”

“Quite correct. Your essence has rebuilt your body. The transfiguration as performed by Udo and Abdu here. Your damaged body is in the original half-life sarcophagus. It is an empty shell. It is for the Well of Souls.”

“What happens now?”

“This is a very good question to which I know not. Do you feel whole?” Bhantu’s eyes sparkled.

“No. Parts of me are missing or gone. Are they with my former body?”

“Some are yes and some are not. One soul-body you have separated from yourself in a future of yours. The others have been pulled away by — — hmm — a dark lord.”

“Really, why would anyone bother?” Jac asked.

“Look at this transformation and this new body and you know why…”

“I don’t know, this is too confusing. But… I feel amazingly peaceful and in harmony with myself, that’s different.”

The green diffuse light became gold transforming into a turquoise sparkle. The trees sang a lilting beautiful song of peace. Jac stepped out of the sarcophagus onto the grasses and he grinned.

The Space Fish stationed herself a few thousand miles away from the mouth of the Well. Touzdae piloted one the of Fish’s support craft. She flew into the golden matrix and docked at the golden egg structure at the center. The pressure differentials took longer than she had expected. She let out an inaudible burst of exasperation at the door. Finally, she entered the airlock and awaited the green go-light.

The inner door slid aside. Touzdae stepped into the inner chamber. A half-life sarcophagus released from below. She rushed from chamber to chamber looking for Jac’s face. As she reached the final two chambers she saw him as his chamber lowered into an exiting tube. And before she had a chance to stop it, he ejected away. The half-life clear chamber thrust down into the eye of the vortex into the Well of Souls. She threw herself, racked with tears onto the view screen.

Storyboards will be forthcoming to deconstruct this complicated chapter for a better understanding.
