Summary

In "Arc of the Immortals/ Book 1 — Part 2," Touzdae saves Jac from a potentially fatal download process, while Von Deign advances his nefarious plans with Hannah's DNA, and the characters interact with advanced technology and interdimensional travel.

Abstract

The narrative continues with Touzdae intervening to prevent Jac's consciousness from being overwhelmed during a risky download process, employing a partitioning focus to manage the information flow. Meanwhile, Von Deign proceeds with his sinister experiments, using Hannah's DNA in a dark ray machine. The story introduces new technological advancements, such as a liquid stealth metal-coated spacecraft capable of interdimensional travel, and the characters navigate complex space-time protocols. The chapter culminates with Jac's recovery and the revelation of the spacecraft's capabilities, including a transdimensional unit that operates on neural commands and can create bridges to other realms, albeit with limitations on usage duration and recharge times.

Opinions

  • The author conveys a sense of urgency and high stakes through the life-threatening situations faced by the characters.
  • The complexity of the universe is highlighted by the detailed descriptions of advanced technology and its implications for consciousness and space-time.
  • The characters' interactions suggest a deep connection and camaraderie, particularly between Touzdae and Jac, as well as with supporting characters like Elijah and Geordae Phorae.
  • The narrative implies a critical view of Von Deign's actions, portraying him as a villain willing to exploit others for his gain.
  • The mention of "thematic materials" and the depth of the story suggest that the author intends for readers to engage with the text on multiple levels, considering both the plot and the underlying philosophical and scientific concepts.

Recap continued: Touzdae — the observer tempted to intervene but remembers space-time protocols and restrains herself. Von Deign extracts more DNA from Hannah. Reptoids interact with Von Deign. Touzdae goes back to Geordae Phorae’s space station to help save Jac from dying. Von Deign puts Hannah’s DNA into the dark ray machine. And ready at the start button.

“Is the silver craft ready for takeoff,” Von Deign barked into the communicator.

“Yes, My Lord, the package is secured. Engines are charging.”

“Ten seconds after launch, you notify me!”

“Yes, my Lord, countdown commencing.”

Von Deign watched on his screen as the sliver craft consumed by clouds of dust, rose. The craft made a 180-degree turn, over the pad adjacent to his giant ship.

“Eight, nine, ten, mark, my Lord, primary folding engines charging,” the captain reported.

Von Deign opened one strand of the dark ray along the path of the departing craft. He depressed the button. Jettisoned to the other side of the room, his crumpled body — knocked out.

The Dark Ray sputtered and died.

The silver craft folded space and was gone.

Touzdae joined Jac. She entered his consciousness with a partitioning focus as suggested by Elijah. She created a filtering self to extract the information. The next step toward success.

She found the many coordinates of Jac’s expanded present moment exercise. About to return a presence urged her to stay. It came in one neat package, that, and the presence, along with her filtering-self set up.

Jac began his expanded present moment of 60 days. Touzdae filtered the download with buffers and compartments. She had to hold the time in one space-time moment for herself. And she had to hold a second space-time several minutes ahead of his time. It was for his download.

When she returned to the station next to Jac an Emmons Sister was by her side. The Entu Monk was by Jac’s side. Elijah exited Jac’s fully functional body and Jac opened his eyes.

“I feel like I’ve been through a forever war,” Jac said.

“Likewise,” Touzdae said.

“What were you doing there, with me?” Jac was agog in wonder.

“Saving your life,” Touzdae said.

“Thank you my love,” Jac bowed — dizzy.

“Did you get everything you wanted?” she asked with a smirk.

“You should know. But yes and then some. A big sum.” Jac.

“I see you haven’t finished yet. Is that right?” he asked.

“Yeah. And I haven’t divined how to be in two places at once. Yet.” she answered.

“Just like your old self and then some,” Jac beamed. He put both hands to his head reflexively.

“Pain?” the Entu monk asked.

Jac nodded and the monk helped him lie down.

After the sister and the monk finished three rounds of healing Jac needed to move. Geordae Phorae suggested that the two of them walk down to the enclosed dock. The new Needlecraft.

“It will help you sort your download, Jac. Touzdae, once you’re familiarized with the improvements you will be able to go again,” Phorae suggested. “I will join you in a few minutes.”

Jac and Touzdae marveled at the new craft. It had dual piloting seats. There was a flat shape or feeling to the craft.

“We sprayed it with a liquid stealth metal. It’s invisible over the viewports. It augments the other stealth tech and cloak on the ship.”

They each climbed aboard in single file. Jac’s aft cabin aboard the Fish was up and running.

“The transdimensional unit comes on as soon as one of you comes aboard. It’s tailored to your biometrics. If someone else comes aboard and neither of you is here the transdimensional tech won’t function. Jac or Touzdae say ‘Nez bridge’.”

“After you,” Touzdae smiled and bowed graciously.

“Nez Bridge,” Jac said and the bridge of the Fish appeared around them.

“The controls sync up too,” Phorae was as giddy as an excitable schoolboy. “There’s something very special here. It could work with consciousness transfer, somehow.”

He explained how the transdimensional blended with the interdimensional. A dimensional bridge could go anywhere within 9 lightyears. “All done through wireless neural commands.”

“A bridge to say the supra consciousness realm of Nez Fish. For now only one bridge at a time.”

“Wow,” Touzdae and Jac said at the same time. They both laughed.

“There is a catch. It can only be maintained for 45 minutes. It can recharge in quick mode one time for 21 minutes. The second time it’s done — 45 minutes. No quick mode recharges. It will take 19 hours for it to recharge. There are complete holo-manuals on every aspect of ship functions.”

“Say if Touzdae or I were to be dropped off. How short could that be? Would it be the same time for quick and long recharge?” Jac asked.

“Three minutes to establish the bridge. Three minutes to disembark. One and a half minutes to disconnect.” Geordae smiled. “There is more!”

Jac collapsed.
