A CONVERSATION

Sudha: I wish something I could do.

Murthy smiles and looks straight at the rivers that intersect and form confluence while uttering, “Sometimes doing is more important than attaining desirable conclusions.

Sudha: How do you conclude?

Murthy: That life is tough, people are different, we cannot change the world.

Sudha: But big strong brawn identities are thrashing the feeble and weak. Are we supposed to be silent watching mannequins that let injustices happen? Are we, not beings of substance whose voices matter?

Murthy: Do you see both Yamuna and Ganges meet here, Yamuna is a little muddy around here, and the Ganges though one of a kind river, after entering the sangam it gets that muddy texture and people also believe that an imaginary river Saraswati joined the two rivers underneath.

Sudha: Yes! And?

Murthy: So, Saraswati is not visible, but Ganges and Yamuna are, meaning sometimes what we want to see is a one-way dimension that we perceive the world to be. You see tragedies in current times. I see opportunities and abundance, we are not living in the Middle Ages where there was no stable living experience. People’s hands were chopped off anywhere anytime. Lower-echelon men, women, scientists, and rationalists all were blown off by tagging them outside the mouths of canons.

Sudha: But shouldn’t we aspire better?

Murthy: We should..

Sudha: So, we should criticize the conditions of our times.

Murthy: You surely can..

Sudha: But why did you protest on my first statement?

Murthy: I just see things differently both are true and not true, I choose things that keep me happy.

Sudha: So should we let all injustices flourish and turn this world into a fiesta fight of personalities, cult of assassins, men hunters rising horses and unleashing wild boars on attack mode?

Murthy: No.

Sudha: Then why not complain?

Murtha: Because you don’t have to.

Sudha: You haven’t faced oppression its easy for you to say.

Murthy: Yes I haven’t, I am a heterosexual, male, upper-caste/class Hindu man, we are the cream of the crop in our country, the only ones above us are famous people.

Sudha: So complain, agitate, and revolt!!!!

Murthy: No, I won’t.

Sudha: So, you do not care?

Murty: I do.

Sudha: I am done with you. You are a pathetic little prick you know. So you are just talk and no action I guess.

Kansya: Why did you let her speak to you like that? I was here, and the way she was shouting at you, entire people in the park were looking at both of you. You were surprisingly calm.

Murthy: She was having a bad day, I just let some opinions be with me for the moment and refrained, sometimes being observant of one’s actions and letting them be is just what they need.

Kansya: I can never solve the living riddle i.e, you. Made the biggest mistake of my life marrying you.

Kansya speaks while both Murthy and her zoom off the park with voices fading…..

“You have fought against so many powerful people. You have brought a powerful person to the knees who was making money off children’s free meals at lunches.
