All Inclusive At The Bug Hotel

Bug hotels make an ideal home for many small creatures looking for a safe haven in autumn to hibernate.

They are an eco-friendly creation filled with natural materials and have a range of hole sizes that can be home to mice, hedgehogs, ladybirds, bees, spiders, and woodlice. A safe place to shelter, lay their eggs, raise their young, and seek refuge from predators.

This rather large Bug Hotel was built out of materials collected from the beach and surrounding area by volunteers from Hornsea Urban Gardeners (HUG), and is situated in the gardens along the Promenade.

Some of the bricks were once properties, whose land beneath has eroded into the sea in the very recent past. The boulder clay of the cliffs is ravaged by the constant heavy winter seas that batter this coastline.
