Prospects for 2024 and Review of 2023

As the inaugural month of 2024 unfolds, I find it pertinent to reflect on the closing month of the preceding year, 2023. During that period, I had the privilege of visiting two distinct cities abroad: Shanghai and Medan. This experience has prompted a substantial shift in my perspective, particularly in regard to language skills honed during the COVID-19 pandemic, where I predominantly used Chinese. In contrast to my peers in the Taiwanese coding community, my English proficiency became a distinguishing factor, occasionally the subject of light-hearted jests due to the language barrier prevalent among Taiwanese IT professionals.

Prospect: English Language Proficiency

There are two primary motivations for reclaiming and enhancing my English proficiency:

1. The proficiency exhibited by Indonesian colleagues post-Medan tour was astonishing and highlighted the need for language improvement.
2. The predominance of English in generating GenAI prompts suggests a clear advantage in mastering this language.

Strategies for Enhancing English Proficiency

To regain fluency in English, I propose the following strategies:

1. Increasing English Usage: I intend to primarily use English for writing blog posts, Facebook updates, and other forms of communication.
2. Translation with GenAI: To cater to my existing audience accustomed to my Chinese posts, I plan to employ language models to translate and adapt my content into Chinese, despite potential oddities in translation. Moreover, I aspire to extend my reach by translating content into other languages unfamiliar to me, such as Japanese and Thai, leveraging popular platforms like LINE in these regions.

Publication and Reflections on Human Existence

Another aspect of life that incessantly perturbs me is the existential cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death — particularly illness. For instance, the third bout of COVID-19 recently disrupted my plans to write this post at the end of 2023. However, being Taiwanese, I find solace in the greater significance placed on the Lunar New Year. Nevertheless, it is imperative to acknowledge the detrimental impact of recurring illness on achieving set objectives and to devise strategies to mitigate such unforeseen circumstances.

Utilizing GenAI Tools for Efficiency

Presently, with access to GenAI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard, I am exploring ways to maximize their utility in automating tasks, such as maintaining a consistent posting schedule on Medium.

Review of 2023 Objectives

Reflecting on the objectives set on 覆盤 2023年7月1日, I aspired to be an inspirer. To this end, I delineated five key strategies:

• Participate in community, university, and entrepreneurship hub lectures to inspire.
• Host new book sharing sessions to inspire.
• Share more on social media to inspire.
• Collaborate with AI to set goals and overcome difficulties, not limited to programming, to inspire.
• Continue exploring and discovering the possibilities of LLMs AI! Inspire.

Participate in community, university, incubator

• 0 Incubator. but in Taiwan incubator is still in recovery stage.

This is what I expect to do and really get the different idea by communicating with them like bookstore owner and their audience.

As a IT writer I usually deal with the reader who want to learn about IT . but in those bookstore usually stands on literature, Humanities … and I get the people I should never have chance to talk to . but now it happen and it really expand my vision.

what I learn by sharing those articled and comparing with other blogger aboard , I finger out the Taiwan market is really small in my study.

For example : keywords about develop with ChatGPT , My article is already top 1 in Taiwan. but also just get 10k reads . Compare to mainland China or overseas , 10k can not be the list of top 100 .

So as I mention before , I will try to use GenAI tool to expands my article impact.

• the locus of decision-making often lies beyond my control.
• The unpredictability and high stakes associated with these opportunities sometimes result in fortuitous encounters or unforeseen challenges.

As I continue to navigate these circumstances, my focus remains steadfast on growth and learning from each unique experience.
