Prose Echo
In Vino Veritas

Author’s Note: Today’s Anti-Poem is built largely on a pun. Namely that of a specific kind of wine:
Prosecco (Italian): a variety of white wine, usually a sparkling wine, produced in several regions of northern Italy.
Prosecco comes in a few different varieties that include spumante (sparkling), frizzante (semi-sparkling), and tranquillo (still). The first two mentioned are very similar to French champagne, due to their fizziness. So since the season of ringing in the new year with bubbly is just around the corner, Yours Truly feels that this free verse is only fitting. Obsidian Eagle proudly presents…

Prose Echo
Pop the cork on that bottle — let’s go — full throttle!
Pour out the decanter, we haven’t time for idle banter
For once, the tannins need not breathe
Just swish it around lightly; this thing’s got legs!
Exhale and then inhale complex bouquet
No sommelier is required to describe
The grappa from which this fine wine derives
Neither Tranquillo nor Chianti are enough to up the ante
Truly, you’ve never savoured such an exquisite palate
Despite its astringency — it’s more fruit-forward than flabby
Earthy oak tones complement a bright finish
Giving a full bodied flavour to our rarest vintage.
