Promise of Hope
A Poem of Longing

Birds above migrate to warmer roots,
Naked trees disrobe their colourful coats,
Seas pound their tides against stubborn rocks;
It was a long, lean and lonely Winter.
Hope sags in silence and faints,
As the chill digs deep into our souls.
The end is not as fearful as its feint,
God’s mercies did not strain;
Spring bursts forth in the splendid dawn,
Brings joy and new beginnings, as
Grace cometh with the Summer morn.
Time watches as we wait
For the tender mercy of joy,
For a safe place to rest our joints,
For joyous comfort to our souls,
For the warm embrace of love, and
For the blessings of loving grace.
On wings of faith we soar
Like eagles in the winds above,
With nothing in our hands,
Only to the cross we hang
On the hope of His promise
To unite with the loved one we lost.
When the Summer ends
With songs of thunder and trumpets,
On the music score of the seasons;
Eternity beckons from deep within our hearts,
With longing echoes from the end of days
Where we long to return at last.
