Process Of Writing
Writing is kind of a process. At least, it is for me. Maybe others are easier going with it.
Some stories are difficult, some are a (little) bit easier. It depends on what kind of story you’re writing. One story takes longer than the other story, of course. It’s a great process to get through. I love writing very much together with its process. I am appreciating it a lot, even more, every time I’m writing.
In everything you do, there is a process you do the tasks. A painter prepares before he actually paints, by preparing all items: laying the brushes on the table, take the canvas you need on the canvas standard. Then he actually starts painting. He has a draft painting. After that, he begins to look if this draft is something that he had in mind. This his vision.
Writers do have a vision for their story too. When they start writing, they exactly know their routine for writing their story or whatever they are writing. It is their process of writing. The way they like to write their craft. It’s their process of how they like to be more focused and productive with writing their story. They like it this way. Sometimes writers are shaking it up a little bit their habits.
In the last seven months, I have tried a lot of things to be more productive and focused, and not getting distracted, writing what I want and what I love to write about. But within a story, you have a structure of how you write your story.
I found mine too. This structure is the one I like the most, and it feels good to me (very important).
I can tell you about my process of writing. I don’t know the process of writing from other writers. Every person is different, thus a different style of writing and their writing process.
This is my process of writing
Maybe my process of writing stories is a little bit old-fashioned.
But this is how it looks like:
- First draft: my first draft is writing the story by hand. I like it when my words in my head are going through my body (my hands) on the paper. I write in my notebook.
- Second draft: the second draft is writing my first draft I wrote in my notebook into a word-document (I write in Google Docs now). I do it with track changes.
- Third draft: I installed Grammarly to correct the typo errors. As I type fast there are too many errors, as well as all the incorrect sentences I have.
- Fourth draft: mostly, I have to say more in the story, then I add this too. I accept all the track changes.
- Fifth draft: there is a chance that I have written word and sentence errors again. I’m checking this again and I’ll delete what is not necessary.
- Sixth draft: in this draft period I’ll check one more if the sentences are correct. When not, I’ll change.
- Seventh draft: I’ll copy and paste it into Medium or any other platform I write for. I’ll do the layout, add pictures and tag the story into the categories. I publish the story or I schedule my story for the time it’s right.
- Eighth draft: I will share my work on every social media platform I am working with.
