3 strategies of effective problem solving and making the right decisions

We always hate problems coming in our way, but if we look at the positive side of it, problems and pains play a very important role in our growth. And also, success is difficult without tackling these problems structurally.
Finding problems is like getting gems embedded in puzzle, If you solve puzzle you will get those gems that will make your life much better
Each problem gives us a potential opportunity to improve. Let’s figure out the best ways of approaching these problems —
- Identify problems and not tolerating it —
Make a list of problems, without thinking about how to solve them and without possible solutions. Make this list without any judgments and be very precise towards it. More precise you are, the easier it will be to come up with an accurate diagnosis and successful solutions.
Be calm, centered, and logical while identifying problems.
Once you identify a problem you should never tolerate it, tolerating a problem has same result of not identifying it
People who are good at identifying and not tolerating problems tend to have a strong ability to perceive and show strong intolerance of badness.
2. Diagnosing the problem —
Many times when we identify problems we try to jump over the solution part without properly diagnosing it and that never gives us a good solution.
The most important strategy in diagnosing the problem is to focus on the Root cause and that can be achieved by using 5 Why Process (Why Why analysis).
By repeatedly asking the question “Why” ( 5 is a good rule of thumb), you can reach to root cause of the problem, which is often hidden behind more obvious symptoms — 5 Why Process

E.g. — Problem: Jumped red light signal today
Why? — getting late for work
Why? — Woke up late
Why ? — Alarm clock is broken
Why? — Didn’t check if it is working
Why? — Forget to check it last night
For this problem we have identified proximity cause as — Woke up late, the alarm clock is broken which can always be fixed for the short term but the root cause is forgetfulness which is very important to fix in long term.
3. Making the right decisions while approaching a problem —
Quality of life depends on the quality of the decisions we make.
Choosing on decisions doesn’t depend on our intelligence but our character, thus a lot of people can make right choices
Good Vs Bad decisions —
First Decision
Allow Pain to come in way — Bad decision
Understand how to manage pain and produce progress — Good decision
When we progress pain comes in the way and one has to push his limits to gain strength. If you reflect on the pain you can evolve and learn from situations.
Second Decision
Avoid facing harsh realities — Bad decision
Facing harsh realities- Good decision
Lot of problems comes with harsh realities which we sometimes want to avoid encountering but seeing what is true is very important thing
Third Decision
Making decisions basis first-order consequences — Bad Decision
Making decisions basis fourth-order consequences — Good Decision
E.g. — Exercise:
First-order is pain and time sink — Not desirable
Second-order is health and fitness — Desirable
If you made a decision basis first-order consequence you might never do exercise but if you had looked subsequent consequences you will know how important it is.
4th Decision
Don’t hold yourself accountable — Bad Decision
Hold Yourself accountable — Good Decision
Self-responsibility is very important, we need to understand bad things that come to everyone and it is their responsibility to make their lives what they want them to be, by successfully dealing with whatever challenges they face.
5th Decision
Worry about appearing good — Bad Decision
Worry about achieving a goal — Good Decision
Vulnerability is important in life, people who worry about looking good hide their weaknesses and they never learn how to properly deal with them. Confident people seek to learn more often from people, especially those who disagree with them, and are eager to identify their weaknesses.
Good Luck Everyone :)
