Spencer Movie Review

Kristen Stewart is a good actress and she had big shoes to fill as Diana Spencer. It’s just too bad the movie was so unwatchable I didn’t stick around to see more of her in the role.

I watched the first 15 minutes of excruciatingly long shots, for no apparent reason other than to take up time, and decided to fast forward through the film hoping it would pick up the pace. No. It was like watching grass grow on the Queen’s lawn.

The pace and directing in this movie is its fatal flaw. Although the beautiful sets are taken in and absorbed, we don’t really need to see long shots of Diana driving a car though the country, or people getting out of cars in front of a palace.

Perhaps I judged this film unfairly as it “has grossed $7.1 million in the United States and Canada, and $14.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $21.7 million. Wikipedia. Kristen Stewart is nominated for best actress.

But I will stick with this review on Rotten Tomatoes which says, “A film that spends nearly two hours advancing already axiomatic notions-obscene opulence does not equal freedom; protocol is a prison-with easy ironies, weighty symbols, and portentous phrases.”

I couldn’t make it through this film, and it is a sad testament to a lovely person Diana Spencer, who always left us wanting more.

I am anxious to hear what you thought of the film! Please respond.

I hope you enjoy my movie reviews. More to come!!
