Prevarication
A Poem in Response to a Challenge
What? Me prevaricate? Why, I wouldn’t think of such a thing. Honest Abe, that’s me. I cannot tell a lie!
Did you say I equivocate? Well that’s a different story. I may lead the truth a little, but lie? Prefabricate? Never!
If it is the truth you want Then I’m the one to see, Honest as the day is long. Me prevaricate? No way!
Now, I may embellish a story Just for effect, you know A little poetic license I may take A tiny white lie I may spin.
But prevaricate? The nerve! I’m a straight arrow all the way 100% honesty, that’s me. A straight shooter that’s for sure.
I’ll have you know I’m AAA Good Housekeeping approved Four-star rated Gold plated!
What more could you ask? You’ll find no wooden nickel here. What you see is what you get No false claims that’s for sure.
“Prevaricate” — My word. The poem it is done. The challenge has been met. No prevarication, but now maybe a little instigation.
Okay Holly Jahangiri, gauntlet taken up. Now I’ll pass along the challenge with the word: Instigate. For any who are game, please respond with a poem, haiku, flash fiction or whatever you like using the challenge word and tag me.
