Preferences Are What Make Each of Us Unique
Subhi Najar’s Deep Dive: What do you prefer 2?

I love Subhi Najar’s deep dives. Join in the fun if you wish.
- Yesterday or tomorrow, and why? Tomorrow I can remedy yesterday’s blunders and repeat its successes. But yesterday gives tomorrow its reason for being.
- Prose or poetry, and why? Facts are under siege. Prose’s gift is a description of the actual world. We need more of that today.
- When you are into reading, are you into science or literature? and why? Political Science was my gig for 40 years. It’s not strictly a science. But it is a systematic way of studying the political world. In retirement, my ratio of nonfiction to fiction is about 80/20 for the reason given in #2.
- In love, do you prefer a red rose or a gift, and why? A gift is more personal. A red rose seems like something someone thinks he must give because he read it in a poem.
- If you can choose, is it for you to climb summits or deep dive in the ocean, and why? I can see more from a summit. Yearning to see the whole of things suits at 73.
- If the day is 25 hours long, how would you like to spend the extra time? with friends and family or by yourself, and why? I love alone time. I am writing this in the early morning with the house silent. However, I want to spend the extra hour with family and friends. Last night we did spend that hour with a group of friends. The food was lousy, but the conversation and connections were wondrous.
- Cappuccino or hot chocolate, and why? Hot chocolate because I don’t like foamed milk and, besides, I already drink too much caffeine.
- Normal reading or fast reading? and why? Normal reading with pen in hand for underlining and notes. Otherwise, what is the point?
- New or classic novels? and why? Modern because this is the world I live in.
10. We all change with time; which version of yourself do you like most, and why? 26,983 of my yesterday’s became tomorrow's. We will see how today goes. But I’m the best version of myself yet.
