Powerful Songs That Make You Want to Dance

While nobody is watching. In your kitchen, living room, on the street.

If you’re reading this on the bus or train, you can nod your head a bit. Not enough to make heads turn, just some small chicken head movements.

I dare you to sing. Or hum. Or lip-sync.

I love to power dance in the park, three, four, five times a week.

I dance in the kitchen when it’s cold and raining.

It is not me in the gif. I wish it were.

It’s a way to shake off the cobwebs that have gathered during the day while I’m slaving away at my laptop.

It also means I can eat naughty comfort food and not put on weight.

I don’t get dressed up in exercise gear. Just comfy trousers, not too loose, not too tight, a few layers on top — a t-shirt, sweat top, and a warm jacket.

Sometimes, I even go out in my smart clothes, winter coat, and boots.

It can get pretty hot somedays but you know you’ve had a decent workout when you are sweating buckets.

Every appointment or shopping trip is an opportunity to select my playlist, sync my mobile phone with my Bluetooth headphones, and go.

Plug me into me some Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Emeli Sande and I am flexing my abs and elbows like a speed walker.

My fave power song on my current playlist is Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the very first American Idol in 2002. Yes, it was that long ago. The title song of the album Stronger was released on January 17th, 2012.

Adele, also from 2012, at the Brit Awards, Rolling in the Deep. She doesn’t sound at her best but the comments mention that this is after her throat surgery. She also released Skyfall in 2012.

I start off my walk slow, Skyfall is a good warm up.

Emeli Sande had the UK’s best selling debut Album in 2012, ‘Our Version of Events’.

Her voice and the powerful piano playing of Next to Me really gets my adrenaline flowing and when there is nobody around I let rip. Nowhere near as good as this woman, obviously.

I love a simple lyric that really emphasises the whole point and the concept of the song. The lyric is about loyalty, love, and that unconditional love that will be there for you forever and whenever you need it when everything around you is going crazy you will find him, or them, next to you.~Emeli Sande in MetroLyrics

That’s all for today folks.

I hope you enjoyed these songs and managed to release some endorphins by power/dance walking, indoors or out.

Did you nod like a chicken? Lip sync or let rip in a public place?

Have you got any 2012 power songs you dance or walk to? I’d love to add them to my playlist.

Thanks for reading.
