Potential- A Poem

There’s potential in everything.

In search of change, you sought a way,

But alone, it felt like an impossible sway.

All the ways you longed to be, that’s me,

I resemble the image you want to see.

Intelligent and capable, that’s what I am,

And most importantly, I’m free, not a sham.

In ways you yearn for, but have not found,

Every day, people do it, breaking new ground.

They talk to themselves, envisioning a new self,

Seeing the person they aspire to be, like an elf.

But you, my friend, possess a courage rare,

To embrace it fully, without a single scare.

Yet, you still grapple, wrestling with doubt,

Sometimes, still being you, inside and out.

Other times, you imagine watching me,

Slowly, gradually, letting yourself be free.

Little by little, you’re letting yourself grow,

Becoming the person you truly want to know.

So keep pushing forward, with each passing day,

For you have the power to pave your own way.
