Positive Words and Plans for March

Let’s be gentle with ourselves as we take small steps forward

March — a new month and a new beginning. March always feels like a hopeful month. The first signs of spring emerge. The weather becomes a little warmer.

I looked out of my window this morning and saw that the first pink flower had started to emerge from a bud on a bush in my garden. Last week, when the weather was cold, windy and rainy, I noticed that buds had appeared on that bush. The first sign of spring.

Today, the sun is shining and the sky is mostly blue. It’s still freezing cold — there was even a frost last night. But the sun is a sign of hope and optimism, a sign that March will be a good month.

There are many things to look forward to in March. More signs of spring. Green leaves appearing on trees. Bushes and shrubs bursting into life. Daffodils growing through the grass. Tulips nodding their colorful heads. Warmer weather calling you outdoors.

My Motto and Goals for March

My motto for March is: “I’m being gentle with myself by setting small goals.”

I was somewhat discouraged that I didn’t achieve some of my goals in February. However, when I looked back I my list, I found that I’d actually achieved more than I thought I had.

That’s why it’s a good idea to write down your goals and track them. Your mind can deceive you, telling you you haven’t done enough, you haven’t even done half of what you set out to do.

Then, when you look at your goals in black and white, you realize that, yes, you haven’t done everything but you have achieved more than half of your goals and that is good enough. It’s not a race — you can just carry on in March.

However, because I have a tendency to criticize myself when I don’t achieve all my goals, I’ve decided to set fewer goals in March. This is in keeping with my new year’s intention of being kind to myself.

Also, I have been ill for the past two weeks and am still recovering. Illness has reminded me of the importance of slowing down and taking some time for myself each day. Some time to read, reflect and write.

It’s also made me realize that I need a lot of energy to do all the things I do each day, so that means I need to make time to rest and relax, so that I can renew my reserves of energy and not burn out.

Here are 31 positive words for us to focus on in March. Today’s word is peaceful, which is definitely in line with my intention for this month. I will keep it in mind throughout today and look for ways in which I can have a peaceful day.
