Positive Thinking With No Negative Thoughts

“Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible.’” — Audrey Hepburn

Emmet Fox was my spiritual advisor for over 30 years through his writings and teachings. He was a New Thought minister with a humongous following in New York City.

I was introduced to his thoughts when I was gifted with a copy of his book, “Sermon on the Mount.” I had not been religious when I heard about spirituality while in my late 30s.

I related to almost everything that I read that he had said and ended up reading almost everything he had written in his essays and during his talks. I couldn’t get enough of his teachings.

Whenever I had a question about spirituality or my life and its problems, I would pore through his essays and books seeking an answer.

On the topic of negative thinking, Mr. Fox said When negative thoughts come to you, do not fight them, but think of something positive. Preferably think of God; but if that is difficult at the moment, think of any positive or constructive idea, and then the negative thought will fade out.

Simple and to the point, just the way that I like getting my lessons.

Several years later, I met Reverend Stephanie Sorensen, Pastor of the Life Enrichment Center in Mid-Michigan, and discovered another to whom I could relate regarding spirituality and life in general.

Reverend Stephanie became my spiritual advisor and I didn’t have to pore through tomes and papers to locate an answer. She walks the walk along with talking the talk about how to live a spiritual life. I was ready to learn from one who actually lived her teachings.

And Reverend Stephanie is always ready to teach. Although, I have tried to thank her for teaching me all that she has, each time she tells me that she did not teach me anything new.

She says that, since I am a spiritual being, I already knew this information and all she does is remind me. I wonder if she is now my spiritual reminder instead of advisor. :)

So, I finally discovered that the secret to feeling happy, joyous, and free is to not allow negative thoughts to linger. They will appear upon occasion, but the quicker that I replace them with something positive, anything positive, they disappear.

It all boils down to choice! What do you choose? Do you choose to be happy, joyous, and free or do you choose to be sour and dour? The choice is yours so choose wisely!

Thank you, God!
