Portrait of a Wave
A Maui Moment
You can feel the tug of receding water against your ankles in the moments before you can see a big wave coming. If you’re not careful, it can knock you off of your feet and pull you out to sea.

And then the waters turn, rushing towards the shore.
The waves seem to always come in sets of three or five or seven, building and building until they reach a crescendo. Then, you are overwhelmed with pounding foam and a primal roar.

And then, it’s over.
The waters retreat once again.

And the sea becomes a mirror of the sky once more.
