The case of the model charged with murder “second degree murder with a deadly weapon” has been trending in the past two years, and for good reason. For those that don’t know who Courtney Clenney is or aren’t familiar with the case this story has all the details pertaining to the dyfunction between Clenney and Obumseli that ultimately led to his murder at the hands of Clenney.

Courtney Clenney

Courtney Clenney, known to her 2 million Instagram followers as, “Courtney Tailer” is an OnlyFans model who, prior to her 2022 arrest, was making the most out of her modeling career.

If you aren’t familiar with the platform, Onlyfans is a platform where creators produce paid content for their following. While Clenney was a fitness model, and fitness is a subdivision offered by the platform, she did produce pornographic content on the site (pornography is the biggest selling point for creators on the onlyfans website).

Courtney Clenney was born on April 21, 1996, in Midland Texas. Her upbringing is described as “modest” however, it has been claimed that growing up her parents gave her and her siblings everything they wanted.

With her father working as a financial advisor the family didn’t go without. So, it is no surprise that with her father's background, her good looks, and nice figure, Clenney would come to grow exponentially financially in her onlyfans modeling career.

At the age of 7, Courtney’s parents Deborah and Kim Clenney relocated the family, moving from Midland, Texas to Austin, Texas. Courtney would spend the next 11 years there, before venturing to Los Angelas in pursuit of a new lifestyle.

Courtney idolized the Kardashians and used their high-end lifestyle as her inspiration. Friends and family weren’t surprised to see the beautiful, ambitious, girl quickly succeeding, as Courtney was described from childhood as a goal-oriented individual that wanted the best for herself.

It didn’t take long for Courtney to get noticed on onlyfans, and as her follower count grew, so did her bank account, raking in a supposed 3 million dollars since the year 2020.

Prior to Obumseli’s murder Courtney Clenney has been scrutinzied by the public for not only the videos leaked of her physically and verbally abusing Obumseli, but also for crude comments she has made during interviews. Including a 2020 podcast where she stated that she only dates,

“Rich black guys.”

Christian Toby Obumseli

Christian Obumseli was a well known social media star with a large following and presence in the online community. Obumseli was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended high school there, graduating from Plano East Senior High school.

Following his graduation from high school in 2012, Obumseli attended Texas Tech University, obtaining a bachelors degree in business and communication. A degree he put to good use, being most well known (prior to his murder in 2022) for his role in founding the company, “Wiseman and Peachtree LLC”.

After beginning his relationship with Clenney he began workin as her manager, a role that Clenney would often “fire” Obumseli from when they would argue.

While Clenney was very successful in her OnlyFans modeling career (that also featured sexual videos of her and Obumseli), Christian Obumeseli was also very successful from an Entrepreneural standpoint and boasted a net worth of nearly three million dollars at the time of his death in 2022.

While Obumseli had a very large online presence he had faced scrutiny in the past for disparaging tweets that he allegedly made in high school regarding “black women”. However, overall, Obumseli lived a successful life, having a close relationship with his family, and many friends.

Despite the negative publicity that often comes along with the lavish, party, lifestyle that Obumseli lived, the businessman is described by friends, family, and those that knew him as a compassionate, loving, and caring man.

The Toxic Relationship of Clenney & Obumseli

Despite having millions of self-made dollars himself, it is rumored that Clenney paid for the couple's luxury apartment at the One Paraiso complex on Northeast 7th Avenue, with their exact unit situated on the 22nd floor of the high-rise building 1.

Obumseli would allegedly often sleep in the “elevator room” of the couple's apartment as Clenney would regularly kick him out of the apartment when they would argue. Having nowhere else to go Obumseli would move his belongings into the elevator room and treat that area as his living quarters.

That is just one of the many aspects of the on again off again couple’s relationship.

The video below depicts a clip of violence that was allegedly very frequent between the couple, with Courtney being the aggressor.

Friends of the couple paint Obumseli as the “peace maker” between the two and say that he would often quickly forgive Courtney for abusing him physically, mentally and emotionally.

While there have been many videos that have surfaced since Obumseli’s death, all of the videos have seemed to show Courtney Clenney abusing Obumseli, often calling him racial slurs before hitting him over and over again.

In many of the videos Obumseli can be seen trying to restrain Clenney by grabbing her arms and hands, but never hitting her back.

A video of Courtney Clenney being questioned and then arrested by an officer following a Las Vegas, 2021, incident of domestic violence between the couple has also gained a lot of traction.

In this video Clenney is asked by the officer if she had thrown a glass at Obumseli to which she at first vehemently denies doing so. She eventually goes on to admit that she,

“Might have, probably thrown a glass at him because that sounds like something she would do.”

Although she would be arrested for the alleged assault, Obumseli would refuse to press charges and push for Clenney’s release. This was allegedly a common occurrence in their dysfunctional relationship.

There are other videos that have gained traction since Obumseli’s death, particularly a video where the security officers at the couple's apartment call officers to the luxury apartment to intervene during yet another loud disturbance between the two.

During the video Clenney can be heard asking officers how to get a restraining order against Obumseli, but rather than seeking the restraining order out of fear, she seems to only be concerned with getting the order before Obumseli, asking the officer multiple times,

“How can I get one FIRST.”

Christian Obumseli’s Murder

On April 3, 2022, shortly before Obumseli’s 27th birthday, officers would be called to the couple's high rise apartment a final time, this argument between the two having fatal consequences.

Security personnel at the building were allegedly aware of disturbances in the unit and common areas, as well as Courtney Clenney’s history of erratic behavior. Even more shockingly, security stood outside the couple’s apartment door for 12 minutes while the fatal incident was taking place, before Clenney herself actually called authorities and told them that her boyfriend was suffering from a stab wound and needed medical attention.

In the heart wrenching 9–11 call Obumseli can be heard in the background telling Clenney that he,

“Can’t feel his arm.”

and that he is,

“Going to die”

As the operator repeatedly asks for the address and eventually Obumseli ends up telling Clenney the address to give to the operator. Repeating again that he is,

“Dying.”

Several times throughout the phone call, while Clenney continues screaming and at one point says,

“Baby, I am so sorry.”

While Clenney did not provide the operator with a room number before disconnecting the call, the operator was able to figure out the room number by associating another call that had come through regarding a domestic disturbance with her phone call claiming that her boyfriend was dying of a stab wound to his shoulder.

Courtney Clenney’s telephone timeline from the date of Christian’s murder is pretty shocking.

4:01 PM: Clenney call’s Christian (Goes live on Instagram)

4:33 PM: Courtney calls Christian again (After she ends her live video on Instagram).

4:43 PM: Courtney calls her mother (They talk for over six minutes).

4:49 PM: Courtney calls her mother for a second time (This phone call lasts over seven minutes)

4:57 PM: Courtney finally calls 911.

5:04 PM: Police arrive on scene.

This timeline shows the horrifying, and very crucial fifteen minutes, that it took Courtney Clenney to call authorities. Instead, placing two long (considering the circumstances) phone calls to her mother first.

The crime scene photos from that fateful day are extremely brutal, showing Clenney missing all of her artificial nails except for one-on-one hand, covered in blood, and the luxury apartment in disarray, also covered in Obumseli’s blood.

Courtney Clenney would later tell investigators that she “threw the knife” at Obumseli who was charging towards her, in self-defense.

Investigators did take photos of Clenney’s arms and legs to check for defensive cuts or bruises but did not find any consistent with her story.

The Obumseli Family Waits For Justice

In a shocking turn of events, despite the mounds of evidence against her, Clenney walked free on the day of Obumseli’s murder. This caused the family of Obumseli to shine light on the privilege of being white, rich, and beautiful in the United States, causing public outrage and speculation as to the ethics surrounding the judicial system.

The prosecution would later claim that it took them so long to arrest Clenney because they wanted to make sure that they had all of their “ducks in a row” regarding the evidence to get a better shot at a conviction.

Clenney’s freedom, however, would be short lived, followed by a tumultuous legal journey following the tragic events of 2022.

Courtney Clenney’s Legal Timeline is as Follows!

April 3, 2022: Clenney allegedly fatally stabs Christian Obumseli, in their luxury Edgewater condo in Miami, Florida following a tumultuous and toxic, on-again, off-again relationship that lasted around two years.

August 2022: Clenney is arrested while at a treatment center in Hawaii and charged with second degree murder.

February 1, 2024: Clenney is officially charged with two new felonies in relation to the stabbing death of Obumseli:

Interception of wire or electronic communication (a third-degree felony).

Unauthorized access or excessive access to a computer (also a felony)

Clenney enters a plea of “not guilty” in reference to the new charges brought against her.

These two new felonies are related to Courtney Clenney (and her parents) accessing Obumseli’s laptop that had not been confiscated by police on the date of his murder.

Correspondence between the Clenney’s and the attorney representing Courtney in the case incriminated both Courtney and her parents, Kim Dewayne and Deborah Clenney, in the two new felony charges regarding Obumseli’s laptop.

The couple arrived in South Florida to face charges in March 2024 and were subsequently booked into the Miami Dade Jail before being released on bond.

The parents appeared but didn’t speak at a news conference Wednesday with their attorney, Jude Faccidomo, who called their arrest,

“Incredibly troubling.”

Included in the messages were discussions about accessing the laptop using guessed passwords, the warrant said.

Faccidomo said it’s not unusual to someone have multiple passcodes for multiple devices and said anyone, including someone like Clenney who’d been in jail for over a year at the time the laptop was being accessed, would have forgotten the passcode.

“The reason this was charged is because they are witnesses on their daughter’s behalf, and this is an attempt to neutralize them and bully them.”

Faccidomo said.

Faccidomo said accessing the laptop was part of the defense of Clenney. and added that it’s useless in the case anyway.

“Anything we can use is what defense lawyers do. We investigate and we defend,”

Faccidomo said.

Many believe that the public outrage sparked by Clenney’s initial release at the time of Obumseli’s murder is what is prompting the defense to come down so hard on Courtney Clenney and now her parents.

Courtney’s Behavior Following Obumseli’s Murder

Family of Christian Obumseli publicly scrutinized Courtney Clenney for being seen at a bar ordering drinks just days after Obumseli’s murder. She also transferred over a million dollars into an account of her fathers for alledged,

“Safe Keeping”.

Shortly after Obumseli’s death Clenney forked out over 1 million dollars purchasing a home in Texas to be,

“Closer to her parents”.

Many have found her lavish spending habits (spending millions in the short months following the murder) as well as her drinking habit ( a habit that was already extreme prior to Obumseli’s death but got progressively worse after the 2022 murder) to be disrepectful and carefree behavior for someone that just supposedly lost someone that they claimed to care for dearly.

Not to mention the fact that Christian Obumseli’s death was allegedly at her own hands.

The once popular model has now been publicly scorned and socially exiled from the party scene. Videos have surfaced of her drinking at hotel bars where she is “kicked out” by another woman there.

Telling her,

“You killed your boyfriend, so yeah you should leave!”

As Clenney gets up (with her father) and storms out. Still seeming to not realize the severity of the loss her actions have caused or respect the anger that the general public feels regarding the murder.

In every video that has surfaced Courtney Clenney acts like a total diva and treats Obumseli terribly. But it goes so much further than a young couple where the girlfriend is a spoiled brat, you can clearly see that Obumseli is being abused by Clenney in these videos.

Christian Obumseli Speaks from the Grave

Unbeknownst to her, Christian Obumseli had been secretly recording Courtney Clenney’s abuse for weeks and even months leading up to the murder.

There has also been text messages and letters addressed to Clenney from Obumseli that were leaked stating,

“What if next time it is my face, or my heart, and then there is no next time.”

Indicating that this was not the first time she had stabbed him. He also goes on to talk about the fact that his “stitches” had been re-opened several times. It is pretty apparent he means at the hands of Clenney.

All of Obumseli’s documentation is being added to the piles of evidence that the state has stacking up against Courtney Clenney making her claims of “self-defense” even less believable.

Although these claims were never accepted as a viable defense in the eyes of most from the get-go.

What Courtney Claims Happened

Courtney claimed that she had “thrown the knife” at Obumseli who was “lunging at her”. However, following Obumseli’s autopsy report it was revealed that his wound could have in no way been caused by a knife being thrown at him. The wound was consistent with a downward thrust.

When asked what would happen if a knife was thrown at someone from the distance Courtney claimed to have thrown it, the expert responded that the knife would have simply,

“Bounced off Obumseli”.

This, coupled with the fact that Obumseli had never been painted as the aggressor by friends, witnesses and the video evidence available, has made Clenney’s defense tough to believe since the case first started gaining popularity in 2022.

Upcoming Trial

A trial date has been set for the formerly popular Instagram and OnlyFans model charged with second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend. Courtney Clenney’s trial is set to begin on December 19, 2024, a spokesperson for the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office recently confirmed.

Final Thoughts

While this case has certainly had some ups and downs and has been about as tumultuous as the relationship between Courtney Clenney and Christian Obumseli seemed to be, it is safe to say that the family of Christian Obumseli as well as the Miami Dade community is happy that justice seems to finally be being served!

I am going to continue to follow this case as it unfolds because it is definitely an interesting one!
