Popcorn Poetry
Emotional eating — munching, mindfulness, and more
I like the sound and smell of popcorn
In an old fashion pot with a glass top
Cooked in oil with a touch of butter (at the end) makes my heart flutter
It makes me smile — to see yellow beads turn into a fluffy white pile
I love the ritual of gathering my toppings when my popped kernels are warm
I use sea salt and kelp for the savory
I use nutritional yeast for the cheesy flavor
I use chili powder for the spice
I tend to be an emotional eater. I discovered my popcorn ritual when I was craving something salty, but wanted to take the time to make it myself. A small bowl of popcorn helps me crunch and munch some somber feelings.
I made sure to eat one kernel at a time vs shoving a whole handful in my mouth. This helps me slow down, be present and relax — unpack and process my feelings while I digest my tasty treat.
