POMprompt #8, Symbiotic Relationship
mutually beneficial (?)

Symbiosis
I write a lot about human relationship to earth; people to natural ecosystems, to each other, to nature, to our delicate environment. I think a lot about the term “symbiosis” which means: interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both. (Google dictionary definition.)
Symbiosis does not have to refer only to natural relationships between organisms or species, but can also apply metaphorically in poetry. Anna Rozwadowska and I have worked together on several occasions and written some lovely work along these lines. You may remember a collaboration between Anna, Sam Kimberle, Zach J. Payne and I, named “Symbiosis” that was published back in August in Literally Literary:
Relationship
This POMprompt encourages you to consider relationships and whether they are “mutually beneficial.” Sometimes — they just, aren’t. In fact, often, they are not.
Encourage yourself to explore unique and interesting perspectives on relationship, the benefits to each party, the balance or imbalance, and create a poem response.
This is a “meaning” prompt — you do not have to use the word symbiosis in your work, only use the concept as a catalyst for your poem.
I look forward to your entries!
