Welcome to the first in-house POMprompt by The POM, a brand new poetry publication. Here’s how to submit:
I am sure you all have heard — there’s a pandemic called the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) passing quickly through populations worldwide and endangering the lives of the immuno-suppressed and elderly of our societies. The news, as it should be, is all over it.
As poets we respond to the world around us with inquisitiveness, keen observation, and often intense emotional response. Here’s a way you can express some of what you are seeing and feeling about this global crisis.
Choose a word from the following list and write a poem that includes that word.
(You may up the challenge by adding several of the words into your poem!) You do NOT have to write about the Coronavirus, but let these words inspire your poem:
