Pomegranate Seeds
Food poetry prompt: The Ingredient that Steals the Show

zucchini; sliced thin cantaloupe, crisp apple; wedged tangy juice; measured vinaigrette dressing; shaken ruby gems, walnuts; scattered
pomegranate seeds salad bowl party poppers rosy bursts of zing
I love all the ingredients in this delicious salad. Any salad with roasted walnuts is a winner for me. But even walnuts struggle to match the visual and culinary sensation that pomegranate seeds (and juice) bring to a salad. These ruby gems of rosy zinginess are my show-stealing, (secret) ingredient.
I hope you enjoyed reading my tanka-haiku couplet even if eating the salad would have been far more pleasurable. For anyone interested in making the salad, here’s the recipe -
Thank you to Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) at The Brain is a Noodle for inviting me to join this food poetry prompt. 💚
