Poetry: Alone
Reflecting On Identity, Social Media, & A Fake World
You have all the fans But you still feel alone You have all the external validation But it’s only you when you’re home
You thought they would make you happy You thought it would make you happy But you didn’t find it You just lost it — everything Especially your identity
You thought the fun equated a full life You thought the things were worth the fight You thought the image needed to be projected You thought your ego should be protected You thought your lifestyle made you respected But now you're empty Lost Dejected Searching for hope While still making them feel you’re perfected

Reflection: Who are you really? Who is the real person behind the filtered photos, the filtered videos, the perfect angles, the perfect backdrops, and the perfect lighting? Who is the real person in the mirror? Who is the real person without the mask on? Who is the real you?
Don’t forget.
