Summary

The website content is a poetic reflection on the impact of social media on self-expression and societal norms.

Abstract

The "Poem: Social Media" presented under the "Daily Dose of Philosophy" series delves into the societal pressures imposed by social media. It suggests that individuals often tailor their online presence to align with popular opinions, rather than expressing their true thoughts, out of fear of slow growth or sudden downfall in their social status. The poem emphasizes the importance of reason and truth in speech, advocating for the courage to maintain individuality and balance in the face of conformity. The author concludes by thanking the readers for their time and encourages them to enjoy the poetry, hinting at more philosophical content to come.

Opinions

  • The poem conveys a critical opinion of how social media influences people to prioritize popularity over genuine self-expression.
  • It expresses concern that fashionable speech is replacing reasoned discourse.
  • The author believes in the strength that comes from using reason and speaking truthfully.

What others see has become all. Ill-advised to speak our thoughts, For our status grows with the flow. Afraid we are, for it grows slow but falls fast.

We speak what is in fashion, Whether we believe it or not. We must be seen to think the same, For reason has been replaced.

We ort not forget reason, For reason makes us strong. Speak your thoughts, if they are true Balance shall be restored.

Thank you for taking the time and reading my poetry. I hope that you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for more from the Daily Dose of Philosophy.
