Poem: Free Ourselves From Our Enemy
Original Poem by: John Ledford
We are our worst enemy
The ones that we should trust the most
The people that are supposed to be there for us
Are the people that tear us down
We build up these walls
To keep everyone out
And in the process,
We lock ourselves in
Fearing rejection from others
We become our own prisoner
But it doesn’t have to be this way
We can break free from our self-imposed prison
By reaching out to others
And letting them in
Only then can we truly start living
And only then can we begin to heal
Ourselves and each other
Only then can we be free.
