Please stop the genocide of my people
I am calling for justice for the millions of Uyghurs detained in China’s concentration camps.
Nothing will ever justify cruelty against other human beings, least of all because of their differences.
Not many people might know this because it’s not widely covered by the media, but there is currently a genocide going on in China, disguised as reforms to assimilate the Turkic Muslim minorities, and among them my people, the Uyghurs.
The Chinese government explains the mass detainments as reforms to re-educate the ethnic minorities for failing to comply with the Communist regime’s rules. Once detained, the prisoners are tortured and subjected to political indoctrination.
Not only do they suffer horrible punishments for resisting, but they are also forcibly sterilized and subjected to abortions. Birth control methods are an insidious way to stop the growth of all Turkic ethnic minorities. In short, their goal is to exterminate all the ethnic minorities just because of their religion and race.
The Chinese government is justifying their actions by saying they are fighting Islamic extremism, yet the people they detain are regular citizens who never engaged in radical, terroristic actions. All they did was leading a life in accordance with their personal and religious values.
The Chinese government is punishing and killing thousands of innocents just because of their different beliefs and because they are not Chinese. They do not even spare children and women, and abuse and beat into submission. Many men have simply disappeared after being taken to the camps in the middle of the night, and their families still don’t know what happened to them. Many are killed for the harvest of their organs, which are then used for medical purposes, as well as sold to other countries.
Call it whatever you want -genocide or reforms- but nothing can justify the mass murdering of innocent humans beings.
It’s so wrong and sickening to think that it is still happening today.
After everything human history went through, with the Jewish genocide, the Rwanda genocide, the Kosovo genocide, the Rohingya genocide, and many others. Too many.
When there should never have been even one, to begin with.
How could humans let it happen? How can humans still let it happen right now and not do anything? It’s heartbreaking, and my heart is weeping for all the lost lives that will never be returned. For all the broken lives and the suffering of the innocents.
Despite our protests and efforts, many countries are still hesitant for recognizing what is going on in these camps for what it is: ethnic cleansing.
Many states fear the retribution of the Chinese government to interfere.
All the reasons are political and economic.
Too many reasons, and none good enough when innocents are dying every day. Especially, if we can stop this madness.
As Nelson Mandela said in his autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom, we are not born “hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
Hate is going to kill us all. It will cause us to kill each other there is no one left. No one can benefit from living in a perpetual state of hate, anger, and destruction.
There are innocent people dying and being tortured, but no one is doing anything because they fear repercussions
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke
I can no longer stay silent when my people are being treated inhumanly, subjected to sterilization and mass extermination.
They invaded our territories, stole our freedom, and violated our rights. When they couldn't assimilate us, they decided to eradicate us.
Every living being has the right to live. It is the most basic right. It is innate.
And here is a corrupt, evil government that is playing the hand of God by deciding who gets to live and who gets to die.
Why do we come from a place of hate when we were made with love?
Why do we have so much anger and resentment against those who are not like us? What is their crime?
Why can’t we love others as we love ourselves? Why can’t we wish them well as we wish it upon ourselves?
Why are we willing to inflict pain and make other people suffer, at the same time increasing the suffering inside of us and multiplying it outside of us
I advocate for justice and equality for everyone. For love and compassion. For respect and understanding. For kindness.
My voice is only one and small, but I use it to cry for help. To holler for justice. I pray for the atrocities and suffering to end. I pray for a day when we can all live in peace and when our differences will not be a cause for division, but inclusion and unity.
