Please Donate but Can You Please Please Not Talk About It?

Donation is not about your social status

I see a lot of social media posts that talk about donations and helping others. I truly respect those who give their much-required help to the needy.

But I hate those who donate just to let the world know they have done so.

When and why did donations become a social status? If you are a good human, your connections already know.

A humble request to those who attempt to gain some brownie points (not sure from whom) to stop this madness of posting about donations on social media. You are not earning anything.

I have found there are 3 categories of people who announce their donations:

1. The Inspiring

#Respect

There are a few donators who spread the word about their donations just to inspire others. This lot is genuine and their intention is just to expand its reach.

Total respect.

2. The Posers

#Ignore

This lot thinks that donations have earned them the right to pose for a self-poster declaring what good they have done.

Keep scrolling.

3. The Mindless

#Hate

This lot goes one level further and takes a picture of the one who they help.

A person asking for help may already be feeling ashamed. Please don’t circulate pictures of those helpless eyes and faces.

Never look into the eyes of the one you help. Or you will develop a false pride about yourself — Anonymous

Disconnect / Unfriend.

Conclusion

Charity gains us points not only in this world but also in the world after. Let’s not ruin or diminish those points by blowing a trumpet about it.
