My approach to Leadership and Parenting
Please Allow People to Make Mistakes and Learn From Them
This advice is appliable in both parenting and work.

I have seen this a million times. Both parents and bosses have this behavior and it’s not cool at all. Please allow people to make mistakes and learn from them!
Don’t kill other people’s initiatives! Allow people to think for themselves and take decisions! Don’t stop them from trying! Let them make mistakes and help them fix them! Allow people to learn and evolve!
If you have a management position, you should know that doing difficult tasks helps people evolve. If you forbid them to think and act, you will work only with robots. Let your people make decisions and even support the consequences.
If you are a parent, you should know that forbidding your children to do silly things has bad effects on them. Let children be children. Let them play, allow them to make noise, and don’t be angry with them when they do something wrong. Help them realize their mistakes and let this be a lesson for them.
Everybody needs to have the liberty of trying and even failing. Failing and doing things the wrong way can provide very important lessons if they are managed positively. I remember an awesome quote that fits in the context, but forgets who said it…
Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Doing Badly
With a positive attitude and an open mind, you can help others learn from their mistakes and become better human beings.
Don’t terrorize your children!
Stop overmanaging your team!
Do this instead:
Establish a good communication channel and support people to evolve! The first step you have to do to achieve this is to find the proper manner of speaking.
Don’t be bossy and grumpy! Just don’t have that attitude! Use empathy instead! Giving the proper explanations and making yourself understood without raising your voice or using an aggressive language will help you!
I had achieved by making mistakes and always learning from them! Even though I was usually discouraged, I kept going and kept losing until this suddenly changed and I started to win!
And I won big time! The win was 10 times bigger than what I had lost so far.
