Some voices can have a natural calming effect on the listener. Nowadays, there are a lot of youtube channels in different niche. I think it is a plus point if your videos released on youtube are backed by a pleasant voice. And of course, it is not just the voice that matters but also the proper style of presentation and the content as well. But even if the content is mediocre, sometimes listening to a pleasant voice, just for the sake of it, can have positive effects on our physiology.

It is like saying we are not supposed to make sense of everything, for example, the chirping of birds, but to listen and appreciate it for what it is.

I prefer to listen to youtube videos that are served with a unique narrative style and an unexplainable calmness to it that helps me to be in flow with the video being watched and also have a positive influence in terms of simple relaxation. Listening to some of them might even inspire me to consider reading any content, whether it be through a blog or a book, with such love, care and calm rather than succumbing to the new age productivity-focused speed reading or mere scanning-scrolling to boast off how much one consumed.

Reading does not have to be a soul-sucking endeavor out of fear of missing out on the never-ending list of ‘how-to information’ without fist addressing ones unique ‘why’ behind it.

Sometimes exposing ourselves to works of people who do their work in the utmost care and out of joy is best for relaxing our tensed nerves and muscles and also in inspiring us while compared to endless searching for the next big self-help tip or motivational drug. Nevertheless, the self-help gurus keep popping up via youtube ads to take advantage out of our contracted nerves. If at all we bothered to relax the nerves, maybe we will know what to do and how.

This not a list of overdosed ASMR videos which by itself takes away its naturality in the process of overdoing it on purpose again for the pure sake of taking advantage of the contracted and tensed nerves of the listener.

So this will just be a small list for now.

Take a look.

01Bob Ross YT Channel: This is the place to go if you want to experience the joy of painting being expressed in a very gentle and natural way. Apart from his friendly welcoming voice, the sounds of painting-knife, paint palette holder, brush, and not to mention the live colorful paintings on the canvas, etc make for a satisfying watch. And finally, you need to experience it for yourself.

You can watch the video for the below title in their channel to experience it.

Bob Ross — Winter Night (Season 3 Episode 4)

02Spiritual Unfoldment With John Butler YT Channel: Even though the wisdom he conveys through videos can by itself be relaxing if one could resonate with the message. His gentle voice is the highlight and so everyone is welcome despite the interest in the content. In a nutshell, you do not have to be spiritual to reap the physiological benefits.

The below is the title of one such video which is an interview with him (John Butler) and surprisingly the interviewer also has a pleasant voice. Experience it for yourself.

The ‘common sense’ guide to meditation

03School Of Life YT Channel: This is the right place for people who like to listen to clean-cut made messages from various philosophers and gentle self-help information. And the highlight is the way the author Alain De Botton presents the messages through his pleasant voice and style. This will also inspire you to read books or blogs with such passion and joy rather than as a mere escape.

Below is the title of one such video in which Alain narrates the life and works of Marcel Proust.

LITERATURE — Marcel Proust

04SmartHistory YT Channel: There are multiple voices of narration in this channel. Most of the videos have a combination of a male and a female voice. They are showing and describing the painting works of great painters in the past in a pleasant way. The way they express or narrate the painting works is kind of a dance of voices syncing together.

For example, consider watching the video with the title given below on youtube in their channel where they talk about paintings of Johaness Vermeer and experience for yourself.

Johannes Vermeer, The Art of Painting

Some of these videos might inspire us to attend to the everyday sounds that we experience constantly, such as the sound of pouring hot tea on to your cup, or the sound that is experienced when you wash your plates, or even the sounds of keys being pressed and released on the keyboard while typing or even listening to your own voice while reading. We often let these little moments slip away without noticing them and thereby missing the joy in it.

I hope these might inspire you to awaken your senses to the everyday little gems.
