October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Site or Sight”
Out of sight. Out of mind.
My life partner took this photo of my son and me when we were playing at the beach — unaware of the camera. Sometimes, candid photos spark the brightest moments.
NOTE FROM EDITORS: We’re super busy with our day jobs and unexpected life stuff this month, so there may be delays in responding to and publishing submissions. Thank you for your patience and understanding. My apologies if I sound blunt or straight to the point when I’m sending private notes on your stories — I’m trying to save time.
Please keep in mind: We’re looking for good quality photos with good resolution. If we receive photos that don’t meet standards, the story may be declined. Of course, we still welcome your submissions, but please take this as a chance to better your photography skills or at least take some time to review your photos before you submit them. Do also take time to format your stories correctly. When writers honor these simple requests, it keeps us editors happy and saves us time. Thank you!
We’re not expecting everyone to be “professional photographers,” but we do expect the photos to be clear and have a meaningful connection to your story. With last September’s “Shadows” challenge, we received many amazing photo stories that were of excellent quality. Check here for examples of the type of quality we’re looking for. If you click on any of the Monthly Conclusions, there are many other examples.
We’re open for submissions and invite you to submit to the current October Challenge “Site or Sight” this month, led by the wonderful Sandi Parsons. Can you tell a story in six words encompassing “Site or Sight” (or cite) inspired by a photo taken by yourself? Deadline is NOON, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Pacific Standard Time.
Full details and rules are below.
Note: Freestyle submissions are always open. Writers are welcome to respond to any previous Monthly Challenges that have passed and submit them as Freestyle pieces. To be added as a writer to this publication, please visit the submission guidelines. Big hugs to my amazing co-editors, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, and Sandi Parsons — the best team ever.
