Plain and Simple Toast!

A free verse response to lovely toast

Hot golden brown toast, unsliced so you can cut a thicker wedge; a buttered melt in the mouth delight, for most. Don’t smother it with jams or marmalade, love the toast for what it is; toast!

For me, hot brown, darker than golden brown, (well, it would be it’s brown, not white;) just before it turns black, dressed in olive oil, black pepper and Himalayan pink salt.

Of course, a mug of steaming hot black tea with honey is a perfect soul mate for me toast, black like the hole it is about to be pulled into as it hovers on the savouring event horizon never to be seen again, at least not on top side.
