Summary

Diana C. reflects on a materialist's persistent denial of souls and the impact on grieving individuals, emphasizing the importance of respecting others' beliefs and the need for accountability.

Abstract

Diana C.'s 30-Day Poetry Challenge article, "Pity the Fools," addresses the tension between spiritualists and a particular materialist who consistently disputes the existence of souls, despite the emotional harm it causes. The materialist, who is described as a misanthrope and an ass hole, has been called out for his lack of empathy and boundary-crossing behavior. Diana C. plans to write an open letter to confront such individuals and protect the vulnerable from their gaslighting tactics. The article emphasizes the importance of accountability and the right to defend personal spiritual beliefs against disrespectful intrusions. It also touches on the broader societal obsession with science and the misuse of it to invalidate personal experiences and grief.

Opinions

  • The materialist's insistence on the non-existence of souls is seen as a disrespectful act that undermines personal relationships and beliefs.
  • The author expresses anger towards the materialist for crossing a boundary and refusing to apologize, viewing this as a narcissistic and gaslighting behavior.
  • There is a call for accountability and the exposure of those who deny the existence of souls and harm others with their rhetoric.
  • The author believes that not all individuals have the same strength of faith and that some may be deeply hurt by the materialist's aggressive skepticism.
  • The article suggests that the materialist's actions are driven by envy and a desire to bring others down to his level of misery.
  • The author feels a responsibility to protect the vulnerable from the harmful influence of such materialists and plans to specifically name the individual in question.
  • The piece advocates for the right of spiritualists to defend their space and beliefs against those who wish to undermine them in the name of science.

Decoder Ring

There is a certain materialist out there with whom many of us are all too well acquainted. He was well aware of my loss and my ongoing relationship with Lindsey’s soul (Sitara). He even reached out and said we shared the loss of great love. He insists on trolling our stories to chime in whenever he has the opportunity to deny the existence of souls in the name of science. There are many that share his beliefs or lack thereof. See Emily Jennings’ fabulous

Now fast forward through a debate that would sound all too familiar to many of you, to when I explained to him that him telling me there are no souls is shitting all over my relationship with Sitara and to please either apologize or not reply. He replied all right, by continuing his insistence on the superiority of his belief without an apology.

He is a misanthrope.

He is a fucking ass hole.

He thinks I dislike him. False. I am angry, very angry. When one sets a boundary and someone else deliberately violates it, anger is the healthy and holy appropriate response. (I purposely used the homophone there for effect).

I will soon write a long story for another publication in the form of an open letter telling everyone like him what they do. That letter to those that deny the existence of souls and feel compelled to piss in our stories is close to being fully baked before I ever put fingers to the keyboard. The letter will not only be to them, but to the right meaning yet misguided spiritualists who think everyone is entitled to their space to say their peace.

Bullshit.

The misanthropes do not join the conversation to elevate. They join to try and bring us down because misery loves company. This person even admits that he envies us, which makes his insistence on trying to drag us into his hell on earth all the more reprehensible.

Most likely I will single him out and name him because my branch of spirituality demands accountability and maybe I can stop someone from being damaged by him.

Not everyone has my courage of conviction or strength of faith. Many of you reading this do. I have discussed this gaslighter with a few and some of you urge me not to name him. The way I see it, as long as he remains unbowed and unapologetic, and not exposed for the covert narcissistic gaslighter that he is, his sense of entitlement grows stronger and more dangerous.

What if there is a writer or commenter who has just lost the love of their life and the belief in souls is the only thing holding this fragile person together? This passive aggressively bullying materialist could unapologetically shatter this grieving mourner.

Not on my watch.

Thank you for your valuable time. Thank you for reading.

Marcus
