State of Mind: Happy and contented

I start by saying and believing that I am ever grateful for everything that I have and I am ever thankful for every breath that I take.

Having said that I do also mean that I have also confronted deaths, my indecisive moments, my failures, my unhappy situations and surroundings, my illnesses, my low self-esteem, so on and so forth.

Yet I feel blessed. I feel happy. I feel contented because life is beautiful. And it shows all it colors and hues that might be dark as well as bright.

About me

Holding a masters degree in Mass Communication and a diploma in Nursery teachers’ training along with a few other diploma and certificate programs, I do love to write about Travel, Photography, Food, Nature, Life, Mindfulness, Books and whatever interests me.

After working as a media professional [audio-visual presenter (news and views), print journalist] for some years, I am a freelance writer now.

My journey toward solid food

Holding on to my first doll, a 5-month old me riding on my grandfather’s (maternal) lap during my Annaprashana ceremony. Circa- 1976. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

Guess my love for clicking pictures and getting clicked started way back when I was as tiny as a mouse…

That picture was taken during my rice (pudding)-eating ceremony named Annaprashana (‘Anna’ means rice ‘prashana’ means ceremony).

My love for recitation

Just before getting into an online recitation participation, practicing some ‘smile’ while mobile on active selfie mode. [Image: Sanghita Pal]

I am a writer, learner, empath, friend, mother, wife, daughter rolled in one, passionate about life and nature and everything in between. I love to recite, laugh out loud, reminisce the past, believe in self care, and click moments.

Playdate with granny

Guess the size of my tonsured head is much bigger than the ball I am holding. Whatsay? (Relaxing on my granny’s (paternal) lap]. Circa- 1976. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

The best time of my life…no worries, only eat, play and sleep…and of course, posing and getting clicked…good ol’ days!

Wah Taj!

This fellow has breathed new meaning into our life ever since he is born.

In loving company of friends

The bald look — always love the company of friends (3rd from L, front row) at Jorhat, Assam, India. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

They say, “…September-born are lovely and make the best of friends. These articulate people care about those around them…”

Guess it holds true in my case, too! I do love my friends, come what may.

A Lasith Malinga fan

Life is too short not to wear colored wig and an oversized pair of party goggles and get a photo clicked. Posing while attending silver jubilee get-together of school finals. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

An ardent Malinga fan, I wore this vibrant wig along with the heart-shaped goggles on my 10th Board silver jubilee get-together. What fun it was!

Date with Paradise on Earth

My love for history and architecture

A travel and movie buff, I love to read anything, sometimes stubborn/judgemental/emotional, scribble on inane things, and optimistically try to caption the photographs I take or the ones I like because I believe without caption, the beauty seems incomplete.

Sibling love

Bonding with younger sibling over a game of carom, circa 1984. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

Sibling love is so precious. I treasure this capture.

Festivals of colors

Got all smeared with colors…still managing to pose, smile and click…see how beautiful (wink wink) I look during the festival of colors, Holi a few years back [Image: Sanghita Pal]

After playing Holi to the fullest, I felt like that I should take a picture. Who knew that I would be posting it here on Medium!

The Three-generation DILs

The three generation saree-clad ‘bahus’ (daughter-in-laws) of Pal family (me, my mother-in-law, and granny-in-law). Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

This family photo is unique in itself. All three saree-clad, and all three covering heads with saree pallu (the free end of saree), I also notice that we are actually wearing the colors of our National Flag — saffron, white and green.

Prized possession

A prized possession — my white embroidered frock. [Image: Sanghita Pal]

The priceless possession of mine. Some two years back, Ma gave it to me asking to preserve it. Since then it’s with me.

Tom & Jerry couple

We go along jolly well just like…ummm…errrghh….like Tom, the Cat and Jerry, the Mouse…and life goes on, touchwood….❤ Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood- Oscar Wilde

How thoughtful of you, Sir! And how I wish that all gentlemen should think just like Mr. Wilde, nothing more, nothing less!!

Childhood friends

I (boycut, wearing the red pullover holding my friends’ hands wrapped around) amidst friends on my brother’s birthday. Circa 1984. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

My most valuable antiques are my dear old friends.

Nature lover

The winning smile (after many photo trial and errors) at the scenic Dainkund near Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh, India. Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

They say “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” I try to adapt to the adage. Every day.

My love for photographs

You say I look great but the flock cares a damn! Huh!! I wonder!!! Photo owned by Sanghita Pal

I started practicing how to click photographs under the tutelage of Baba (father) in his old-modeled Pentax long long back and the rest is history.

My dream

It’s my dream to ride a Harley Davidson bike (even a Royal Enfield bullet bike would do!) someday while traversing through the mighty Himalayas. And that $1000-dream selfie would be uploaded too with a befitting backstory (wink wink…)!!

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom- Aristotle

Thanks heaps and heart full of love JoAnn Ryan for the beautiful and invigorating prompt of selfie wonder to let other friends of the fraternity know one another better.

I literally dug into my photo folders to strain out these handful while experiencing a whole lot of varied emotions…quite a stressbuster it was ❤! Many thanks to In Living Color team too.

By the way, all stories related to the photos shared here are true to the best of my knowledge (specially reagarding my childhood photos, I got the facts and the figures cross-checked by Maa as mommies can never ever go wrong about their kids ❤ …hahhahaa!!)
