AI Image How-To- #13
Lighting options to enhance your images - secrets revealed!

For this AI article on different lighting methods, we will be looking at a frosted glass orb.
Each image here has been created using V4 and Upscale Beta Redo. Each image has also been created with photo quality using hyperdetailed and 32k.
For the orb above, we have used spotlight in the prompt.
This looks just as it sounds, like a spotlight is shining on the orb from above — creating a soft, lovely glow.

For the glass orb above, we are viewing it under a floodlight.
You’ll notice a larger, more intense, brighter glow than the spotlight.

For the glass orb above, we have a beautiful backlight illuminating the glass designs.
This creates a wonderful, warm focal point for the subject, drawing you in.

The above orb is illuminated by rim lights.
As the name suggests, the outer rim of the subject has the light shining on it.
This has created a soothing, almost magical affect…though partly due to the frost and etching on the glass!

The orb above was created using Crepuscular Rays which will create something similar to beams of light.
AI also took the lighting term and applied it to the frosted design.
I left this as it is so you could still get an idea for the lighting though AI seemed to cheat on producing it.

The image above has an overall brightness the other images lack. This is due to using natural light, enhancing ever dot and feathering of the frost.

The images above and below were created using morning light.
Both have lighting variations while adhering to the warm, morning glow.

I find it fascinating in the first of the morning light images how the light has made portions of the frost appear to be made of gold.
The second of these images, the glow seems to originate from within with different golden hues. Both images turned out beautifully.

The frosted orbs above and below both were made using dawn as the light source.
The image above seems to burn with the dawn from within, illuminating the frost as if they were palm trees.

I couldn’t pass up on the gorgeous colors in this dawn globe. I actually thought of Kathy K as soon as I saw it.
Both images turned out stunning, the morning glow seemed to be more commonly produced.

The image above has a soft light cast upon it for a delicate appearance.

Each of the northern lights orbs were amazingly awesome!
Most of the images cast the northern lights inside the orb, rather than being lit from outside (which explains several images.)

Midjourney’s individual touches to the frosted globes (and almost snow globe in style) were impressive — leafy fronds, glistening flowers, mountains and trees in the last one.
This is, by no means, an exhaustive list of lighting options.
We are limited only by our imagination. If you think of a lighting term, give it a try! If you love it, share the term with us!
