Summary

The web content discusses the impact of including specific artists' and photographers' names in AI image generation prompts to enhance the quality and style of the resulting images, with examples from various genres such as vehicles, babies, and fantasy characters.

Abstract

The article delves into the nuances of AI-generated imagery, particularly focusing on how referencing real-world artists and photographers in the prompts can influence the output. The author experimented with AI image generation using Midjourney, incorporating names of renowned vehicle photographers like Marcel Lech and Webb Bland, baby photographers such as Benedetta Vallone and Ana Brandt, and fantasy artists including Anato Finnstark, Diego Gisbert Llorens, and Stefen Koidl, to achieve desired aesthetics in the images. The results varied, with some artists' influences significantly altering the image quality and style, while others had minimal impact. The author also notes the importance of specific descriptive terms in the prompts, such as "candy apple red" and "radiant light," to achieve the desired mood and atmosphere in the images. The article serves as a guide for those interested in leveraging AI to create images with a particular artistic flair.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the choice of artist or photographer named in the AI prompt can drastically affect the outcome of the generated image.
  • There is a preference for certain artists' styles, such as Marcel Lech's photography, which the author found particularly effective in achieving the desired look for a 1950 Chevy pickup.
  • The author observes that some AI-generated images did not meet expectations, such as those with a dollhouse or cradle, which led to unsettling results.
  • The author suggests that beauty in AI-generated images can be linked to mathematical symmetry, as seen in the successful generation of an elf princess after adding "symmetrical face" to the prompt.
  • The author notes that including the word "Anime" in prompts can significantly influence the style of the generated images, pulling them more toward an anime aesthetic.
  • The author values visual feedback and recommends researching artists' portfolios to inform the creation of AI image prompts.
  • The author apologizes for the delay in fulfilling a request from Kathy K and invites feedback and further learning interests from the audience.

AI Image How-To— #11

Artists and photographers to enhance your images — secrets revealed!

1950 Chevy Pickup — AI image using Midjourney

I have noticed as I play with adding artists/photographers to my prompts that some don’t make much of an impact, others seem to reduce the quality of the image a bit, while others drastically affect the outcome.

To begin, we’ll look at my favorite, drool-worthy truck. If you want to attempt to win my heart, you can give me one of these. Any color. Including rust! LOL

As I often do when unsure, I did an internet search for vehicle photographers and chose two of them to test from the list of “famous” photographers.

For the above pickup, I chose Marcel Lech Photography. Why? Because I liked the example photo shown. It had similarities to what I wanted in my photo.

For the above and below photos of the 1950 Chevy, I chose it to be candy apple red. Before I had done that, I received all sorts of vintage paint jobs with plenty of rust included. They were very cool. To make the paint job pop, I added winter to the prompt.

Nearly all images had a morning light feel with sunshine highlighting the truck and trees. Several showed a bright, snowy day.

The images for Webb Bland Photography were, overall, darker. This was one of the few brightest images as most didn’t have sunlight (despite radiant light being in the prompt.)

Though they were darker, the images emphasized the red pickup well.

Baby — AI image using Midjourney

As with the trucks, I asked Google for baby photographers. This first image is by Benedetta Vallone Photography.

Because babies are precious. Then they grow up.

Some images generated had the baby lying on their stomach, and some on their back. Some were creepy, some were not.

Many of these images were darker, this was one of the few brighter ones.

The image above is by Ana Brandt.

The images produced for this baby photographer were much brighter overall.

I originally tried to have a dollhouse included in the image. AI crammed the baby (sometimes a baby doll, or a baby’s head) inside the dollhouse. Not cool.

I also tried generating a cradle and flowers. The images did not have a comforting happy feel…more morbid.

You’ll notice these two images aren’t that different other than the lighting produced.

Elf princess — AI image using Midjourney

The fantasy artist I used for the elf princess above is Anato Finnstark.

Most beginning attempts negated the pointed ears — which I added after several humanistic images. I also added symmetrical face to the prompt, creating a more beautiful outcome. After all, beauty is mathematical.

Don’t look at the fingers, they’re a little creepy. Otherwise, the image turned out stunning.

These images were so beautiful, I replaced the previous elf princess in my story The Proposition with a different one generated.

The fantasy artist for the image above is Diego Gisbert Llorens.

These images also turned out amazing, and very similar.

For this elf princess, I searched for a dark fantasy artist — Stefen Koidl.

Though still a fantasy artist, the image very much has a darker feel.

I did not have to generate very many images before getting this (which is uncommon for me to get one I like so quickly.)

Child with a puppy — AI image using Midjourney

The above and below images are Anime artists. I wanted to show you how different images can be within the same confines with Anime.

(I received more drastic differences with Anime artists than other artists/photographers.)

Below is the same prompt as above with Anime added to the prompt as a type of art.

Adding Anime to the prompt doesn’t create much difference but pulls it more toward the Anime style than just artists alone.

All images generated were done so using V4 in Midjourney.

I am a visual person. When I search for an artist, I like to see their work.
