Periwinkle
A Sestina
A flower that looks to me, beautiful
Closer inspection reveals, poisonous
A deep, haunting colour purple
Much like a bruise
A little hint of healing
Marries the promise of Death
The opportunity of Death
Could be seen as beautiful
A permanent healing
Reversing the embrace of the poisonous
The overcoming of a bruise
Surrendering to the purple
The ambiguity of purple
Life, as well as Death
A loving, kind bruise
Skin and skein that is beautiful
Not to be thought of as poisonous
But rather, healing
What does it mean, to be healing
Is it to be, periwinkle purple
Charming, but poisonous
Much like a Death
An ending that is beautiful
The ending of life’s bruise
It’s the proof of life’s touch, your bruise
Forgotten, already healing
A body that is beautiful
A mind that is purple
Fearing no longer, coming Death
Consumed by the poisonous
To be in love is to be poisonous
To risk life’s bruise
One must live to experience Death
To bring an end to healing
Swimming in the colour purple
Is a thing that is beautiful
To come to an end is to be healing
To say goodbye to life’s bruise
Something that is more than me: something that is beautiful
